I was going to say that this team would struggle in the prem but didn't want to sound to depressing.

We're all over Spain at the moment. This team looks much better playing on the counter.

2-0 up. Goals by Lallana (PK) and Vardy.

It doesn't matter if he's never achieved anything in his entire career, he beat the mighty Scotland!

Try Klinsmann. Not a great manager, but he has charisma and that's what England needs right now.

Not sure FA would give the job to a German though. The right-wing tabloids would rage.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.

Of course they wouldn't rage if he was decent.

Sadly Klinsmann's coaching is not in the same hemisphere as his playing.

England need to find someone who will re-do the set-up from top to bottom.

We need the Eddie Jones of Football (That's a rugby coach not an ex-miami Heat). We need some English fighting spirit. :D

I guess Gareth Southgate has the job, then.

Managing wins over Malta and Scotland, and a goaless draw against Slovenia is enough to convince the FA apparently. Pretty sure HIF or myself could do the job if that's the criteria. The FA is becoming more of a laughing stock by the day, I truly despair for this team.

Figured I'd make a post about the ongoing child abuse in football scandal that's emerged in recent weeks. Wasn't sure where to put it, but given that it has taken place in the UK and our new England manager has spoken out about it, here seems like a good enough place.

Lots of former players are coming out saying that they were sexually abused as youth players by coaches. There have even been claims that some players have been given bungs to stay quiet about it, particularly in cases where big teams have been involved. Some seriously insidious stuff here, but sadly not at all surprising to me given the history of abuse cover-ups in the UK (Jimmy Saville & associates at the BBC, Rotherham scandal, etc). This past year has been absolutely apocalyptic for the FA, between this and the corruption scandal.

And the biggest concern of the FA is having to potentially compensate the victims. :noway:

I'm sure that there are a small percentage of these people coaching in every sport in every country.

Best English half since we last played Germany.

It's hard to imagine how good Alli could be one day. Definitely Lampard level, imo. He still scores a lot of goals despite how bad his finishing is at times.

Disappointing result but an encouraging performance. Finishing needs to improve across the board.

Great to see the energy and the pressing. Leicester showed last season that when you have inferior talent that is the way to beat technically better teams.

We aren't world champions but I liked the 3 at the back defence and the two number 10 setup. I think Livermore was the only starter who I was disappointed in. Sadly when it comes to tournaments we will change the players and the setup and play not to lose, without the energy or desire that we showed yesterday.

Defoe nets against Lithuania to make it 1-0. Nice to have a great finisher in front of goal like him.

Excellent wing play by Sterling to break though and find his man in the middle.

As Lithuanian, was a bit excited for this game, but it doesn't look too pretty so far. England looks decent. I am very casual Football fan, whatever happened to Jack Wilshere, I remember that guy being hyped as the next big English superstar.
