Still very early to extrapolate for a full season, but TJ is looking like a serious player now, and has shown great improvement in his defense. I hope he is able to keep it up.

I'm confused. Some of you guys say Warren is good on defense and some of you say the exact opposite. I'm not good at evaluating perimeter defense so can anyone explain me how is TJ defending?

T.J. Warren, Suns

One clear early candidate for Most Improved Player is T.J. Warren, who has evolved into a consistent offensive role and emerged as a legitimate second scorer next to Devin Booker. The 14th pick in the 2014 draft has posted 20.2 points per game while nearly doubling last season’s shot attempts and getting to the line more. Warren’s never been known as a jump shooter, but has spotted up effectively and added a welcome dimension to a slightly wonky mixed bag of offensive tricks—floaters, dribble fadeaways and shots off the glass. Warren’s also chipped in 1.8 steals and shown added effort on that side of the ball.

So, the Suns are bad. Well, at least they’re far more interesting to think about long-term. They’re one of the league’s youngest teams, and they just slid rookie Marquese Chriss (who, by the way, looks extremely lost) into the starting lineup. There are certainly long-term possibilities in a Warren/Chriss frontcourt and/or Warren/Dragan Bender combo as the Suns grow over the next few years… just not defensive-minded ones. After last season was cut short by foot surgery, it’s just nice to see Warren back out there getting buckets.

Good article...also talks about Porter, LaVine, Randle and Nurkic.

Notable about Porter (glad to have him in fantasy):

Otto Porter, Wizards

Porter turned heads on Wednesday opening the game on a 5–5 shooting streak, including three threes, for 13 points as the Wizards opened up a 34–8 first quarter lead on the Celtics. It wound up being the best game of his career, with a career-high 34 points, 14 rebounds (seven offensive), four assists, three steals, three blocks and no turnovers.

There's a few people including Earl Watson who say hes an above avg on ball defender but off the ball he watches the ball a lil too much. He gets beat by his man on back door cuts alot, and ends up committing unnecessary fouls.

Btw hes 6th in the league in steals per game.

Warren is not only giving the Suns 20.0 points per game but is looking like an early candidate for Most Improved Player for how far he has come defensively.

Warren, 23, ranks seventh in the NBA with 2.1 steals per game after getting four in Sunday’s loss and ranks 11th in defensive deflections, averaging 3.4 per game.

Warren is proving most valuable to the Suns, averaging a team-high 35.7 minutes per game. He has no problem handling the extra time. The NBA tracks how far players travel during games and Warren covers more ground than any NBA player, averaging 1.27 miles per game run on defense.

“Guarding the ball, we feel like he’s one of the best in the NBA at his position and we feel like he’s going to continue to get better,” Suns coach Earl Watson said

Yep. That is it. His on-ball defense has improved greatly. His off-ball defense still needs some work. But just that right there makes him a better than average defender in this league.

Warren is the best player on the team. Ahead of Bledsoe and Booker. Obviously Booker is more valuable being 20, but him and Warren is the best wing duo in the league at their respective ages.

Out indefinitely with some kind of head injury: http://www.nba.com/suns/press-release/tj-warren-out-indefinitely-due-minor-head-injury

Phoenix Suns forward T.J. Warren did not play in the team’s past two games and will be out indefinitely due to a minor head injury. He is expected to resume basketball activities in the near future and updates will be provided as appropriate.

T.J. Warren is currently averaging 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1 assist per game.

Yeah head injury you think concussion but if it was that then why not just say concussion. Hoping for the best but i dont like the ambiguity of how they are reporting this

It weirdly reminds me of Amare's fire extinguisher incident. Anyone with a crazy theory on what happened to TJ?

No theory, but I'm worried that when they were testing him for whatever was wrong last week they may have found something in his head. Indefinitely is never good. But the term "near future" sounds hopeful, so I don't know.

Yeah, he was playing an usual game against Indiana and after nine minutes of the game he went to the bench. Then, he went to the locker room and after that to the hospital to receive treatment. Really weird, hopefully he comes back better than never.
