Smith would be more appealing if one could have confidence in his jump shot. Being a T-Rex doesn't help either.

From what I've seen out of Smith he's off to a shaky start defensively. I want to see more from him in that department.
Fit wise I'm feeling Fultz and Jackson with our core.

With that chuncky body and a 6'3 wingspan he's bound to have problems defensively at the NBA level, unless he's some kind of savant.

That would be nice, but the plan is to build around two franchise players in Embiid and Simmons.
We are in a position to draft the best player available and try to fold him in with our current roster.

Monk showing some nice outside shooting but I would to see him attack the rim and drive to see how good he is at doing that.

Josh Jackson's shooting mechanic is garbage, but goddam do I love his passion, intensity, defense, and athleticism.

I think he is going to be more of a shooter on this team since Briscoe and Fox are mediocre from outside the paint.
That said, Monk looked pretty damn good though, right?

Nah, Jakaar's defense wasn't that good and he doesn't have that intimidation factor that Jackson has. My only knock on Jackson is really on the offensive end. Not sure if that broken shot is going to translate in the NBA.

I'd keep an eye on Malik Monk

PG and SG of the future would be locked down.
I like Dennis Smith's effort but I have to see more to convince me. Right now, I'm not spending a top 3 pick on a 6'2 SG/PG, with a 6'3 wingspan and little physical projection. I don't see the upside.
Physical attributes are nice, but isn't the limiting factor for point guards who rely on skills and vision. Chris Paul and Stephen Curry both have similar builds as Dennis Smith JR and are arguably the best point guards in the league.

Like I said. I have to see more from Dennis Smith. If he shows the same level skills as Chris Paul did at Wake Forest, then he is worth a top 3 pick. I saw Paul at Wake. Thats a tall order.

Oh wasn't arguing you, was replying to your "I don't see the upside" phrase. We all need to see more from Dennis Smith especially since he's been injured for so long. I'm not sure if he's Chris Paul material talent-wise, but I do like him a lot and think he's a similar prospect in style of playing. Think he has more creativity and playmaking abilities than he's been credited for.
Strengths
Dynamic, Explosive, Electric, Dominantonly a few of the words used to describe Chris Paul's game. Paul is one of the better all-around PG prospects to come along in the past decade, and there isn't much about his game that isn't a strength.
The first thing you notice about Paul is his explosiveness with the ball. There really isn't anybody that can stop him from getting to the basket, with his dynamite first step and ability to get the ball above the rim before shot blockers can alter it.
Furthering this strength is Paul's ability to recognize offensive opportunities and exploit them. He understands how to get by defenders on the break, and is relentless at pushing the ball and getting to the basket. If he sees a potential help defender slacking, he will be at the rim before that defender realizes what is happening. Paul is a master of things like splitting defenders, and changing pace to gain that miniscule opening he needs.
While he certainly has the open court speed of a TJ Ford, Dee Brown, or Raymond Felton, none of those point guards break down the defense off the dribble and consistently get to the basket as effectively as Chris Paul.
As a floor general, Paul might not quite have the creativity of the truly great pass-first point guards, but he runs an offense effectively and is very efficient with the ball.
Weaknesses
With his quick hands and dominant lateral quickness, you would expect Paul to be a dominant defender. However, he is mediocre at best in this area. While he ends up with a lot of steals, he isn't always an aggressive defender, and doesn't eat up opposing ball handlers the way that he should.
Wake Forest was a very poor defensive team this season, and it showed up in the tournament. While some of that falls on Skip Prosser's system and a few of Paul's teammates, Paul's inability to lock up primary ball handlers (go back to that West Virginia game again), is a place to start when discussing the Demon Deacons' defensive woes.
At a generous 6'0, Paul is a bit undersized as a point in the NBA. While his explosiveness more than makes up for it, Paul may have to adjust some of the things he does as far as attacking the basket. He may have trouble guarding some of the bigger point guards in the league as well.
Some parts of a scouting report by Draftexpress in 16 april 2005.
If Chris Paul and Wake Forest were replaced by Dennis Smith Jr. and NC State I would have believed that this scouting report was written for Dennis Smith Jr. I'm going to try to watch more games from NC State, should be a fun team especially when Yurtseven becomes eligible.

Fox didn't seem dialed in to me last night. Upright on defense and passive on offense. Jackson was intense and played well but boy is that shot ugly -- Shawn Marion comes to mind.
