The Trade Thread

Feels like everyone has hopes for a trade to shake up the disarray of the team. Let's keep them all together.

Teams that I can see having interest in making a trade:

EAST
Washington - They're paying for a superstar and a max contract side kick, so they won't be happy with these results.

Miami - Whiteside and Winslow look like solid pieces for the future, but the rest of the team isn't there.

New York - They're slowly finding chemistry, but they're still horrible. Carmelo and Rose are just washed up ball hogs these days. KP is the only good thing on that team.

WEST
New Orleans - they need to do something about this team. Davis won't be sticking around unless they turn it around. but they've got no real appealing pieces other than Davis, Hield and maybe Terence Jones.

Dallas - wow, they're really not good. Harrison Barnes anyone?

Sacramento - they're a mess like us, but they also have the potential to start to click and make things work. won't be trading DMC until the end of the season, where they can shop him for draft picks and the like.

Memphis - for all the money they've outlaid for Conley, Gasol and Parsons, they're not looking worth it right now. question is, do we even want any of those guys? they're all looking a bit weathered.

You guys see any other teams who would be looking to make a splash to shake up their squads?

I think Knight and Gallo are realistic options if we don't blow it up. Gallo and AG on the at the forward slots could be a good pairing.

Jrue Holiday / Alexis Ajinca

for

Nikola Vucevic / DJ Augustin

---------

Both teams need to make a trade to flip fortunes.

NOR could use a guy like Vuc and his weaknesses would be masked next to Anthony Davis. For us, Jrue fits Vogel to a T. Defensive PG who can score inside and out, but also distributes the ball. Jrue is a FA, but Henny has shown that he's not afraid of giving up goods for an expiring contract. (See Dipo for Ibaka).

PG Jrue Holiday / Elfrid Payton
SG Evan Fournier / CJ Watson / Jodie Meeks
SF Aaron Gordon / Mario Hezonja
PF Serge Ibaka / Aaron Gordon
C Bismack Biyombo / Alexis Ajinca

I mentioned in other thread

Elf/AG/Mario/Lakers 1st for Cousins/Gay
Vooch or Biz for Brandon Knight

PG: Knight/DJ
SG: Fournier
SF: Gay/Green
PF: Ibaka
C: Cousins/Biz or Vooch

Possible deep playoff team there.

Change Elf for Vuc and leave Knight out of it and I'd do that

If the Warriors wanted to trade Klay Thompson, we could offer something around Fournier + Vucevic for Klay. I think Klay could be the #1 option easily. Some think he's only a product of GSW's system but I don't know, he's had games when Curry is out and he steps up in big ways.

Serge, Mario and a first Maybe enough to get him, we'd have to take some salary back though.

Why not? Gortat will be 33 in Feb, Vooch just turned 26 last month. I'd say they are pretty equal on offense, maybe Vooch slightly ahead. Gortat is better defensively. Also they get a young C in Vooch in a very affordable contract. IMO Vooch is an upgrade at C for them over Gortat, Mahinmi and Jason Smith, he is also younger than all of them by a few years.

Vooch is more than slightly ahead of Gortat on offense. Vooch can do things that Gortat just cant do. He's been a starter for 6 years and never got above 13 ppg, Vooch has been near 20/10 player many times.

At this juncture, trading away only one of Vooch/Elf/AG/Mario does absolutely nothing except prolong the agony. There has to be wholesale changes to obtain an All-Star level talent or a player that can create their own shot. Trading Vooch/Mario for Porter really doesn't make this team that much better because the Magic still won't be a playoff team.

We need a SF that can create offense while not giving up too much on defense.

Gallo
Hayward
TJ Warren
and although I'm not a fan .. Gay

I don't think these teams would trade any of these players in particular mostly because we have nothing to offer.

The other direction would be to trade Vuc/name another player not named AG. Trade for a prospect that doesn't have the name recognition, but eventually will.
Players like
Doug McDermott
Bogdanavich is already 27 - maybe
Shabazz Muhammad

These players are decent but are buried in rosters I hate to use the example of Fournier. He was buried in Denver before we got him .. at the time Afflalo was our biggest trade chip. People tend to forget that part about Hennigan.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that there are players that wouldn't exactly be "home run" moves, but would be realistic trade scenarios for multiple pieces.

Lakers: Fournier (shooter at the 2 spot), Vucevic (offensive big)

Orlando: Clarkson (scoring combo guard), Nance (energy guy), Deng (wouldn't want him but for salaries)

That's because it is GSW's system and not Curry's system.
But with Durant there, Klay is being wasted.

If it was possible to send Evan + Vuc for him, I'd do it.
After that, I'd start Elfrid, Klay, Mario, AG and Ibaka (Biz).

Right because you can predict the future. What are this week's winning power ball ticket numbers? So the only way this team get to the playoffs, is if we get a superstar?
Porter gives us a scorer that we need. Adding him and moving Ibaka, allows AG to play PF. Which everyone on here agrees he is best suited for.
