Whiteside leads our team in PPG, RPG, BPG , field goal #, & is anchoring one of the best defensive teams in the league. To me franchise players do more then just score points.

How a player scores is just as important as how much he scores.

There's nobody on the roster we can throw the ball to in a pinch and say "go get me a bucket"...That's why Dion is always in charge down the stretch

What does that have to do with Whiteside being, or not being a franchise player? :-?

My biggest question with him is can he defend at the NBA level? He looks like a Robert Horry type player, but i need to see more.

I know its only two games but for someone that supposedly cant shot in (Lonzo Ball) he is shooting .714 FG% / .571 3PFG% / .727 FT%.
He is even #1 in some drafts. Im hoping for a more athletic Jason Kidd.

Last time I read, Coach K isn't going to rush them back. I'm expecting Tatum to be back Soon, but with Giles who knows. I see him coming back at the end of the year and end up coming back for his sophomore year.

Thanks, hopping to see Tatum on the floor soon, & i hope Giles stays in the draft to give us more options. Maybe someone picks him before us & we get lucky & get the guy we wanted. The more people in this years draft the better. Im still hopping Pat can get us an extra draft pick anywhere from 10/20.

K isnt going to rush them back (Bolden included). Talk around the team is Tatum is basically ready but they dont want to take any chances, K doesnt really care about out of conference games and wants to make sure he is 100%. Giles is back to doing non contact drills and talk is 2-3 weeks for Giles. Hes recovered from the surgery, just have to get him in shape and slowly get him basically introduced to the team.

O.G Anunoby has been rumored to have a 7'6 wingspan. Seen him being described as a bigger Winslow but I see him more as a Draymond Green. Definitely wouldn't mind if we drafted him.

Honestly I can't see Giles coming back even if he never plays a game.

You guys need to pray for a fast recovery for those bigs because Chase Jeter isn't Duke Caliber he's a guy that wouldn't even get much burn at Miami  .

Offensively ya hes pretty bad. Defensively though hes probably our best player. Hes averaging about 5 blocks per 40 and he isnt aggressive going after rebounds but he seems to be the only one capable of blocking out. But ya his offense is horrific, shouldnt do anything more than just set screens for people.

I admittedly dont follow college much, but checked the draft board and Duke has

C - Marquis Bolden
PF - Harry Giles
SF - Jayson Tatum
SG - Grayson Allen
PG - Frank Jackson

All top 16 (nbadraft.net). Has any team in history jad their whole starting lineup go borderline lotto? That seems crazy.

Dont buy the 7'6 wingspan thing. 7'6 seems to always be the number people exaggerate players wingspans to be. Same thing happened with Bam earlier this year, it was going around that he had a 7'6 wingspan, then he actually got measured and it was only 7'1.

O.G is a damn good prospect, strong and very versatile, is going to be another one of these stud 3s coming into the league. But just visually if you compare him to other wings that have very big wingspans, KD (7'4), Giannis (7'3), Ingram (7'3). When you see these guys arms theyre ridiculously long, not just wow they have long arms but almost unnaturally long. I think O.G probably has a wingspan around 7'1-7'3. Again really long arms no doubt, but not buying the freakish 7'6.

Hopeful starting lineup haha, who knows if they will ever get healthy. UK in 2015 had 4 guys that went lotto in that draft. 0% chance Grayson goes lotto, I have doubts he even goes 1st round. Love Grayson, my favorite player and is a great college player. But he is terrible against legit NBA competition. He dominates 95% of college, but if you look at all his games he struggles, I guarantee there is a great chance he was guarded by a guy with NBA size and athleticism or had a legit rim protector. In my opinion Luke Kennard is a better pro prospect than Grayson.

I would agree if we were years away but we are not years away. We have a great center in Whiteside, good PG and back-up PG in Dragic and TJ , and two good players in Winslow and Josh Richardson. To treat this like a complete rebuild would be to waste Whiteside and Dragic. Just adding a capable scorer like Gay or Hayward while keeping Dragic and Whiteside would put in contention for 2nd or 3rd in the east!! Getting quality depth around them would then allow us to challenge the Cavs.

We need a franchise player. Whiteside is great but isn't a franchise player (yet). And none of those guys you mentioned are even close to being a franchise level player.

Whiteside is clearlyFranchise player in the NBA but i do agree that our weakness is someone who can get, take and make a shot when we need it. That person doesn't have to be a "franchise player". That person needs only be a scorer than can complement Whiteside. A franchise player is a player that can carry a team in multiple facets of the game like what Whiteside does, like LBJ did and like what Wade did. In terms of scorers I for one really like what Waiters is doing but I think the key guy will be JOSH RICHARDSON. While Waiters and Dragic will always be in attack mode, Richardson can shoot and attack. The the three of them on the court together will give our offense some strength. No rookie is going to come into the league be able to get, take and make the shoots we need. That took even some of the greatest players multiple years to get there.

Also I know everyone is focused on the supper teams but the Spurs beat our supper team with the same formula we are doing now. They never had a dominate scorer (Leonard is becoming that his year). It was Duncan anchoring the defense and making shots when needed, Leonard guarding the wing and attacking, Ginobili and Parker just attacking with shooters off the bench. Our team right now is young and not at the Spurs level but is built in that mode with Whiteside being a more dominate defender than Duncan but not as offensively talented. Dragic and Parker being comparable and Leonard and Winslow also a good comparison of course. Right now we are trying to find who out of Waiters or Richardson is going primarily play that Ginobili role and we already have our bench scorer in TJ with Ellington being our shooting specialist. Reed even looks like a good back up center.

He's looking better in college than in high school. Getting better by the day.
