Good to see that other coaches still think that about Okafor. Whatever keeps his value high is good for us.

They don't. It's just positive talk that is all a lie. How many coaches say player X is not that good and overrated? I believe Thibs has full control of the Timberwolves and can make moves. BC should then offer Okafor for LaVine and then we will see Thibs shut up about Okafor. He doesn't like him that much to trade LaVine.

coaches and GMs who have said good things about him are all in on a joke that some Sixers fans fall for.

Re: Where is Jahlil Okafor?
What are we supposed to fall for? I've been disappointed with the way Okafor has performed upto this point. I've tried to sort of thread the needle because none of us are really privy to his recovery process.
I settled on a pretty simple stance that the way he was playing was unacceptable and that if it was going to continue he needed to be taken off the court whether the cause be injury, lack of effort, or attitude. We weren't simply getting enough from him. I'm hopeful he's turned the corner after WAS. He abused Gortat all night and would have ended up in the late twenties if not for two bull foul calls.
The talent is there. We saw that last season and he has improved his defense. He's still only 20. Even with the struggles he still has a ton going for him. The idea that he is all of sudden worthless trade value wise is comical. He maybe worth less but he's still valuable commodity and that I think is what Thibs is getting at.

Progress on offense I'm seeing lately
- driving more (please leave that post game)
- passing much better
- hookshot
- setting screens much better
Things I hate:
- body language and energy level on Rox|Wolves game on D
PNR D:
The team prioritizes so much in limiting roll man (spurs D philosophy) that forces him (and Biid) to sag deep on D off PnR D. But Jah doesn't have biid's giant size and athleticism that it's basically a NON to SLIGHTLY challenged shot of the ball handler with the trailing perimeter PnR defender.

Actually I'd love to use both Okafor in the post. Get them deep and let them work against defenders. The problem is our PG are absolute garbage they can't make the entry pass. They don't draw defenders on drives. All they really do is fling the ball around the perimeter trying to get easy dimes.
Watch the Wolve game. Okafor had position on his man. TJ refused to throw the entry pass. Okafor had five shots. Embiid had 9 most of them jumpers.
We aren't going to win like this. Our bigs have to be fed the ball. Sure on the off night Ilya, Roco, and Sauskas will shoot enough to steal you one but not often enough. I've been critical of Okafor but I'm not sure why TJ and el matador don't receive criticism they are awful.

There are 29 other GMs in the league. There has to be a sucker to take Okafor off our hands. Can there please be a dumb GM like Billy King who values Okafor? Why can't the Wizards be dumb enough to trade Porter for Okafor? We need Okafor out of here quickly. That's why I don't buy that positive talk from Thibs about how good Okafor is. BC needs to find a sucker ASAP. Can we get someone on the level of a Smart or Porter for Okafor? We need to get lucky. We need to trade Okafor and make amends with Noel. Noel is a very good player. He needs to be our backup Center. The next game Okafor looks good he needs to be traded the next day with the quickness. Where are all the stupid GMs? We need you.

In the spirit of all these "Where is ______?" threads, here's one: where is Jarryd Bayless? We need a true point guard on this team. And as well as Sergio has done so far, he's not a starter.

I would take any of Jared Dudley, Wilson Chandler, Otto Porter, Maurice Harkless, Rudy Gay, DeMare Carroll etc. to immediately insert as the starting small forward of this team.
Maybe with a combination of picks, just to be safe

I've been trying to figure out what we could get using the Kanter trade as a template. Since they were both picked 3rd and have similar strong flaws. For Kanter and Novak They got Pleiss, a player the Jazz sent us 2 2nd rounders to get rid of this off-season an overseas stash at the time, washed up Perkins, Grant Jerrett a Brandon Davies level player, and a protected first that most assumed would turn into a couple of 2nds while Durant was still with the team.
Smart for Okafor? More like Gerald Green, James Young and Abdel Nader and Boston's own pick protected.

It seems nuts to complain about Covington's shooting and then say you want Harkless to replace him. Dude is a <60% career shooter from the FT line and 31% career from 3. There's absolutely no way his shooting this year is real.
Over his first 4 seasons in the league, he had 3 seasons shooting <28% from 3. Obviously small sample, but given his career FT% and his career 3p% to date, it's pretty clear that he's a way way way below average shooter from 3.
I still like Harkless but he'd be a downgrade. Wilson Chandler is a below average shooter and a downgrade as well.
I'm very on board with Otto Porter, but I think he'd be very difficult to acquire at this point. It makes very little sense for Washington to consider moving him - he'd be one of the focal points of a rebuild if they chose to go in that direction.

Re: Where is Jahlil Okafor?
Allow me to vent my frustration .
Im probably the most Pro-Jahlil fan you'll find out there. But i'm not the type thats not going to point out his flaws ( That Rockets game was sickening to watch). Im more of an eye test person than a numbers guy, I coach HS bball, so its what i'm used to doing. In regards to his injury, Ive had major patella tendon injuries, and playing short stints is terrible. You sit and get extremely tight. Could be a reason his effort is so minimal at times; but who knows, not trying to make excuses.
Last season, prior to Ish, we force fed Jahlil in the post and he was dominant as a 19 y.o. Did it translate to wins? No, but, he was a rookie, he was put next to a lineup of McConnell, Stauskis, Sampson, Noel. Not a recipe for success.
Now, all of a sudden, we have competent players around him, but he lingers around the free throw line. He's not by any means good at PNR. But to me, it seems that he knows his limitations on the PNR. He's not going to pop and shoot a 19 footer, and hes not going to sky for an alley-oop ( ala Noel/Holmes), also, nobody on this team aside from Sauce (this season) has shown the ability to use the pick and attack the basket. We seem to let Covington, Rodriguez etc do what they're good at, but we're not going to use Jahlil for what he's dominant at?
The Wolves absolutely dominated us in the paint last night, where we should be. And that leads to my frustration. 5 shots for Okafor? 5....9 for Embiid? Mostly outside the paint? Come on BB. Its understood that he wants to 'Pace and Space' and PNR, but you need a certain personnel for that. We don't have that. What we do have is 2 skilled Centers, a few stretch 4's and incompetent guard play.
Now defensively, Jahlil is no-where near great at defense, but at 20 y/o, all you can ask for is improvement, which I think we can all agree he has improved. But last night leaving Saric on Towns to get absolutely toasted? Come on. You're down 30. Let Jah guard him. Maybe he can learn something .
I don't think Jahlil fits the system BB is trying to run, but thats not to say he isn't a talented player. Part of me hopes he's traded , it would benefit both parties. The other part of me wants him used correctly, but BB seems to want none of that.
Side note : Joel is fun to watch and gives our team hope and another dimension we havent seen in a long time. But does any one else have a problem with the amount of jumpers he settles for and his inability to finish a dunk/ finish near the rim?
Ok, im done lol

Problem with Okafor is that he's a big who plays small most of the time. Like dude is 6'11". Make yourself known on the court big fella! Enough of those layup, flimsy-like moves. Take it strong down low with authority. He plays like he's 6'6" or something, and has no hops. Always gets blocked 4-5 times a game.

He cant Jump, nor get the ball in the post. Once or twice a game you see him use his strength and demolish someone in the post. But a vast majority of his touches are at the Free throw line, which results in a spin move. But thats by design. BB wants the PNR

There are a a few dumb GMs out there. Demps in New Orleans and Grunfeld in Washington, come to mind as known dummies . The guy in Portland isn't known to be dumb, but he just spent 155 million (38 mil per) on Evan Turner, Harkless and Myers Leonard, so he must be dumb. Then there is always the Knicks, who like to give away players whenever they can clear cap space, to throw away over and over. There are a few dumb GMs and mistake prone organizations left that would give something for Okafor. Don't despair.

Bayless isn't a true PG either. He's a combo guard. If you think that he is going to be a significant upgrade over Rodriguez, at the PG, I think you are going to be disappointed. I think Bayless will lengthen the rotation and give Brown the option of another competent NBA player in the backcourt. The question will be will Bayless take McConnell's minutes (I hope) or will he take Holis Thompson's. If it's McConnell who gets sat down, then that is an upgrade.

True, Bayless isn't a true point guard. I think he'll still be an upgrade over Sergio though. Because then your PG rotation becomes Bayless-Sergio, and McConnell sits down (as he should).

There is only one player on your list that I would target. Harkless isn't good. I wouldn't trade anything for him. Dudley and Chandler would be helpful players, but at this stage in their careers, you don't trade young players to get them. You sign those kind of guys in the off-season. Rudy Gay is good, but he is asking to be traded away from the Kings and I don't think he would think the 76ers are any better situation. If DeMare Carroll is healthy, I'd take him, but I don't think the Raptors would trade him to the 76ers if he was healthy, because they would need him in the playoffs to guard Lebron James. Otto Porter is only player on your list that is both good, and attainable in a trade for Okafor.
I can't fathom the Wizards ownership will want to pay Porter what he will demand, after paying Beal his ridiculous contract. Theyre not making the playoffs. I can't imagine they would lock themselves into this roster for the next few years like that.
