MMA Beat very salty about the mainstream coverage.

I wonder if his hotel money was refundable.

It should be against Khabib but it really does seem Conor is ducking him. Ferguson would be next in line but as good as he is he's not a huge name. Any fight with Conor will obviously be huge but he and the UFC could probably make much more money on a cross promotion boxing match.

They also got nothing to lose if Conor loses. If he pulls off the win he becomes arguably the most popular athlete on earth, if he loses he had the balls to fight a top end pro boxer at their game and got a bunch of eyes on him that he may have never gotten in the UFC. There is still a big segment of sport fans who think the UFC is a gimmick sport with a bunch of animals where as boxing for whatever reason is looked at as very legitimate.

Conor fought five days ago, I'd pump the brakes on talking about how he's ducking Khabib.

Rogan on his podcast was saying Conor is bigger than Floyd. LOLZworthy imo.

Literally true. :P

Fame wise Floyd is bigger of course, even in retirement.

Khabib is the clear number one contender and Conor was brushing him off. Generally he has an I'll fight anyone attitude.

There are a bunch of other explanations. One, being leverage.

I believe Conor said he's concerned about Khabib's ability to stay healthy. Which is a legitimate reason to be hesitant, but Khabib has stayed healthy for almost a full year now and injuries can happen to anyone at any time. So there's no time like the present.

After seeing a couple guys pull out of huge fights against Connor I think its absolutely fair that he questions Khabib's injury issues. I'd like to see him eventually fight Tony Ferguson. Maybe if Ferguson has a big 2017 they can fight sometime at the end of the year. I'd also love to see a 145 match vs Max Holloway

If he fights Aldo he's ducking Khabib. If he fights Khabib he's ducking Ferguson. If he fights Woodley he's ducking them all. If he fights Pacquiao he's ducking Mayweather. If he fights cammo he's ducking nemesis.

yawn.

Also, I don't think it's some obvious slam dunk thing that Khabib is even the #1 contender at LW. Ferguson is on a crazy winning streak and Khabib has fought like twice in 3 years.

Exactly, I think what's best is if Conor rematches Aldo, while Khabib/Ferguson fight for #1 contender. Then it should go Conor vs Khabib/Ferguson winner, followed by Conor vs Frankie. At least that is what I would like to see.

I agree Nemesis, I think Aldo should come first. McGregor needs to defend his first belt before anything. It's crazy how many options he has on the table. The trilogy with Diaz should happen in 2017 too

Diaz would be the one option I would be really disappointed with.

I'm fine with him fighting Khabib or Ferguson, or Woodley if he really wants to get smashed, but in any case they should strip his FW belt if he doesn't fight Aldo (I would have done it when he insisted on the Diaz rematch).

1. Aldo
2. Khabib

In terms of two colliding forces, Khabib vs Conor is as good as it gets. Not quite CCop v Fedor or Jones vs DC or Hughes v Penn II but pretty good. It's hard to imagine either guy losing, which makes it so intriguing.

But outta sentimentality I'd rather Aldo be given a chance. Do it at 155.

Sign me up for Aldo followed by Khabib/Tony winner being the best course of action. Unfortunately that makes too much sense to actually happen. Aldo is probably the last guy Conor wants to fight.

Not to derail the Conor thread but even though both Tony and Khabib have earned a title shot easily (so does Holloway, just seems to be the reality of the UFC these days), the prospect of them fighting is just too good to pass up if that is an option. Would love to see Khabib fight someone who is actually okay with fighting off their backs. You can't tell me guys like MJ, Tibau, Trujillo ever even bother training off their backs. There's a reason Khabib refused to fight Tony in a 5 rder. Which is kind of ironic the more I think about it, with Khabib and every Conor hater on the block talking about how Conor is chicken and is ducking Khabib blah blah. Khabib ducked Tony like six months ago. You won't hear about that one though.
