good move. he wasn't gonna get to play at all this season and young players need playing time to develop.

This may sound weird but to me, this is the problem with the D League. 24 minutes and he takes 22 shots? It's nothing but a free for all down there. We need our own team with coaches in our pipeline that can teach these kids NBA basketball. I don't get how taking a shot a minute will help him prepare for the big roster. He is probably the best player on that roster, but we need him to learn how to fit in, not out to be Jamal 2.0

Tommy is absolutely right, and we do need our own D league team with our own coaching staff, but at the same time it is impressive to have a non-guard to rack up that much in his debut when he doesn't get to have the ball to initiate the offense.

Yeah, that's always been my problem with the D League, and to be honest, I don't think purchasing a team will change it one bit, the exact same happens to franchises that have a D-League team too. The D-League needs to entirely change the way it works for it to be useful in any way, hopefully it will with the new CBA. Like you said, that's not getting playing time, that's just chucking shots in a pick up-like game, and it doesn't help the young guys in the slightest.

To me I see it as the young player gaining confidence. If he can dominate a d-league game and he sees the shots going in, then he's more likely to have more confidence in a NBA game. And have confidence to actually take shots in a NBA game.

The D-League definitely needs to be a true minor-league system...there's currently 22 teams in the D-League, with 16 of them owned by the parent NBA club. We, the Nuggets, Bucks, Wolves, Pelicans, Blazers, and Wizards are the only remaining team without an exclusive D-League affiliation, although Milwaukee and Minnesota are set to launch their D-League team within the next two years. All said, the NBA needs the co-operation of those other holdout owners to make it a true minor system.

2-way contracts are a big step forward. More support for the league is on the way, dont worry.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Funny, I was just wondering the same thing. I haven't heard if there were any changes to the D League in the new CBA. What about Brice's injury? With Blake out, this would be a great time for the kids to get some run
