We gotta start Leuer and bring one of these SFs off the bench. Small ball is nice but we aren't hitting shots and just getting killed on the glass. He's are only other guy who can rebound at a decent level. That was always a big strength of ours and right now Dre just can't get it done on his own with a bunch of perimeter players.

Re: Game 13: Pistons (6-6) @ Cavaliers (9-2) - 7:30 PM EST
Was fortunate enough to be at the game and in fantastic seats - 6th row, center court. My take-aways:
1. RJ spent about 15 minutes shooting by himself before anyone from either team came out for warmups. He looked like he was moving and jumping fine & care free.
2. Ish is a detriment on offense. Can't shoot, can't finish. Cavs were sagging off, daring him to shoot. It was painful to watch.
3. Drummond is a detriment on offense. Can't shoot. Can't pass. Has no touch whatsoever. Forget about the footwork, he just throws the ball at the basket and prays it goes in or a foul is called. Neither happen 95% of the time. It's time for the Dre post-up offense experiment to be permanently put to rest. It kills possessions. He is a rebounding/put-back dunk/p&r dunk specialist. Nothing more. The only parts of his game he should be trying to expand are on the defensive end, where he has a lot he could improve.
When Ish and Drummond are on the floor together, the PIstons are playing 3 on 5 when they have the ball in the half court.
4. The Cavs are good. Kyrie is unguardable.
5. The few times that Ellenson touched the ball in the post late in the 4th, the Cavs actually doubled him. That's respect for a rookie who hasn't played.

Honestly starting Jon over Mook is probably the right thing to do now.
Dre 33 / Baynes 15
Jon 28 / Mook 20
Harris 30 / SJ 18
KCP 33 / Hilly 15
Ish 30 / Beno 18
First unit has better shooting, bigger, allows Harris to be the unquestioned #1 option
Second unit puts Stanimal in the playmaker spot with shooters in Beno & Hilly while having Mook as the bail out iso option.
We'd even get to see the SJ/Baynes PnR again!
When RJ returns Ish takes Beno's spot and we take most of the playmaking away from SJ and let him focus on D

I get your point, but Drummond is special when he's being disruptive with his effort and energy.
He isn't high skilled.
He doesn't have a high basketball IQ.
Yet when he's bringing it by going hard, he's one of the most impactful players in the league. The pouting, moping, and head hanging has to stop. The listless gliding up and down the court has to stop. It isn't on Drummond alone, but he can be more. And when he is more, we are formidable.

I said that drummond is useless with below average shooters.
I don't beleive energy or heart things.

Unfortunately I've been pretty spot on this year with everything, including our record.

It'll prolly take trading SJ to get Knight.

That's a tough call... I can see why for both teams but this is a little early to be giving up on SJ.
Then there's that lil salary thing

I was actually contemplating Ish+Baynes package for BK7 a few days ago. I actually don't think the value is that far off even with out the pick, but I see Baynes having sorta Gortat type value. He's not an all star (neither is Knight) but the dude can be a legit starter once given the chance.OnceUponADime wrote:JohnReese wrote:Ish+Baynes+pick x B.Knight?

Whether other GM's see that I don't know. Maybe not. But I predict that a year from now that trade won't look quite so foolish for the Suns.
