I've been going back and forth on Cousins for a long time now. But I think I'm starting to lean away from him more and more. And here's why: Because if it doesn't work out, not only will the C's have wasted whatever assets they use to get him, the tail end of Al Horford's career, and the cheap contracts of Bradley, Thomas, and Crowder...they could very well lose Brad Stevens.
We've seen reports that the Celtics are afraid they'll lose Stevens back to the college game and that he doesn't want to coach Cousins. If Cousins does come and it goes bad, I could see Brad bolting for some sweet college gig where he doesn't have to deal with bone-headed millionaires.

+1, and really, I just don't think we should try to win a bidding war for the guy. We would be paying a premium for all those headaches.

See I disagree. At some point Stevens will have to coach a difficult player. In fact Cousins hasn't been difficult with everyone. Mike Malone loved coaching him. He's an elite talent and I don't think IT would have said anything about it if Cousins was a cancer. Any player available will have baggage even if George becomes available he'll still have baggage from his knee and the baby out of wedlock stuff.
However if you've ever been to Tootsies in Miami you would do the exact same thing as George.

I would give Amir, Brown, Rozier and Brk 2017-2018 picks in a heartbeat for Cousins and Casspi
Thomas, Jackson
Bradley, Smart, Green
Crowder, Casspi, Nader
Horford, Olynyk, Jerebko
Cousins, Zeller, Mickey
Would give the Cavs a run for the EC.
With Zizic, Yabusele on the way next year

While I completely understand this sentiment, this is also why we gave Stevens the money we did. He needs to be able to manage him. We have a strong core and I think the guy just wants to win. He needs to be put in a winning situation. With Horford and IT as a mentor, plus the solidity or AB and Jae, I'm okay with it.

Lol. What took them so long? Seriously, it's hard to watch a Kings game with this guy playing. He is pouting on every play. Worst body language in the league. You really want to go to war with a guy who is always whining or pouting about something? He looks like he's out there playing a pre-season game, where he's trying to get his stats, but ensuring that he doesn't get injured. The guy looks like he's just buying his time, waiting to be traded.
And before anyone responds with the "Well, you'd be sad too, playing for an incompetent organization" - to that, I say, watch a Pelicans game and see how hard Anthony Davis is playing. Go back in the archives and watch KG play games during his last season in Minnesota. Those guys are playing hard. Just because you're surrounded by bums, doesn't give you a free pass to pout and play half-assed, with the occasional fake-hustle play (e.g. diving for a loose ball that he has no chance of getting).

Yeah, there is a noticeable difference is Boogie's body language now. I mean it was poor before but now it's like he is putting in a 1/3 of the effort. Playing for a sh--y franchise for so long will take it's toll on you. Gay is handling it well though but even he wants out.

AD been to the playoffs though so did KG. In addition, they had better talent to play with. Take a look at the Kings roster over the years with Cousins as their franchise guy. When they've had good talent they trade them away. Heck, they could've had Hickson but they waived him and he averaged a solid DD in Portland, the next season lmao...they could've should've would've had: IT, Tyreke, Gay, Whiteside, Cousins. Think about that for a moment. And KG loved Flip. Boogie got along well with Malone(apparently) and for some weird reason the Kings decided to fire him lol. Kings are just a whole nutha level of sh--y.

He's been a problem since his rookie season though. And he was a headcase when he was in Kentucky as well. He's been a consistent jerk through out his life. We can't just pin this on the Kings being a Mickey Mouse operation. The guy cost himself a few draft spots just based on his attitude and immaturity.

Meh, the draft position thing...DeAndre dropped lower than what most "experts" thought because of attitude issues. He got lucky though playing for a cursed franchise that got lucky with Blake and CP. I'm sure Cousins wasn't the only headcase that came out of Kentucky ahem, Rondo.
Look, i'm not saying Cousins doesn't have attitude problems, he obviously does but playing for such a sh--y run franchise hasn't matured him at all.

Cousins is not worth the risk. I wish he'd just get traded already so we wouldn't have to hear about him potentially coming to Boston anymore.
He's looking for another basketball team when he should really be looking for therapy.

He really has been difficult with everyone, though. I'd even say that he has been historically difficult. Up there with Rodman, Coleman and Michael Ray Richardson. Don't take their public comments as gospel on this, or put too much emphasis on a decent 10-game stretch he had with Mike Malone one time three years ago.
People around him in Sacto almost universally detest him to the fiber of his soul.

I don't think Cousins is looking for another team. I think the Kings are looking for another center, and have been for awhile. At some point Vlade has to get realistic about the price. There is a steep knucklehead discount associated with Cousins.
I don't want him in Boston either. In some ways he's like Antoine, another knucklehead. The difference is that Antoine always had a smile on his face and self-destructed (both on and off the court) without taking it out on others. In contrast, there is something evil about Cousins. I wouldn't want to play with him and I certainly wouldn't want to coach him.

What a stupid story, dude has no choice he's locked up for four years on a great contract. Any trade talk should be dismissed for the next two years.

I hope to damn he gets traded to some other team, and I hope for MORE THAN THIS if that's at all possible. Because this would be a heinous trade. I'm with coach all the way even if the reports of his resistance are only half true.
And I'm sure glad the Celts don't make trades in an effin "heartbeat." god i'm sick of this cliche.

Boogie Cousins has stood by and watched his G.M.s draft punk after punk and he's never had the type of support other teams show their superstars.
In 2011 they took Jimmer Fredette instead of Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and Chandler Parsons. They did of course take Isaiah Thomas only to trade him.
In 2012 they took Thomas Robinson instead of Draymond Green, Andre Drummond, Lillard, and Barnes
In 2013 they took Ben McLemore instead of Giannis, Shroder, Gobert
In 2014 they took Stauskus instead of Lavine, Nurkic, Capela, Hood, Jokic
In 2015 they took WCS instead of Winslowe, Turner, Booker
In 2016 they took Papagiannis instead of Yabusele, Zizic, Dejounte Murray, Valentine and Levert
Wouldn't you be pissed? This is as poorly a run organization in sports for the last decade. Sure, he's difficult and maybe a jerk. But that man is skilled. If he ever for once, had more than 2 competent teammates his game would shine and it would change the narrative about him. Playing alongside Horford? IT penetrating and dishing to him? Him kicking out to AB, IT, AH? That's a scary team. We'd be too big for the Warriors and too overall skilled for CLE. So what is that worth? They'd probably want Rozier, Brown, Zizic and both BK picks. If he is ever truly made available there aren't many if any teams with more assets than us to match up. But there'd be teams clamoring for him. I have a feeling he'll be moved either this trade deadline or in the offseason to the highest bidder.

Why is it either/or, though?
When you don't make the playoffs in over a decade in a league where a majority of teams make the playoffs each year, there's more than enough blame to go around for everyone.
Horrible owner, horrible front office, horrible recent coaching, horrible recent rosters, and an overrated player who breaks at the first sign of pressure, who is one of the biggest cancers in league history for a guy of his alleged caliber.
All of those things are true.
Even their uniforms are horrible.
