His arm looks injured still, he got married, and he feels pressure from the new guys, ball movement is awful. I think all are contributing.

But yeah, shooting 50-ish percent on exclusively 2 pointers without getting to the free throw line is pretty mediocre. He's always been mediocre in the efficiency department, even when he wasn't slumping. Vuc isn't going to be a truly good offensive player until he starts taking 3s or getting to the line. I am comfortable officially declaring him as a guy who will never get to the line, since it's clearly not in his nature to take contact at the rim. He actively avoids contact by spinning away from it and taking worse shots. The 3 point shot is something he's capable of though, and it's weird to me that he doesn't want to shoot it. I'm not saying he should launch 4 of them a night if he's only shooting around 30%, but even if he were to only be shooting that percentage, he should still be taking one just to present himself as a threat out there.

I'll worry about Vuc's offense when our young players can replace the level of consistency he's shown over the years. I'll worry about his 2pt shots when our lottery picks and other rotational players can actually hit shots outside the paint at average levels. There's a reason we're wanting our center to take 3s and it's not because of his offense... it's because his teammates have managed to make us the worst in the league at 3pt shooting (worst in mid-range shooting as well).

Also, where are you getting that Vuc doesn't want to take 3s? Vuc has said he's wanted to take 3s with every coach he's had and he even practiced and took them in-game this summer while with Montenegro. That's on Vogel for going back on his word.

Looked good last night. If he can avg. 21 pts/gm. for the rest of the season I'll be more than happy! He need some help however. I don't remember seeing such an inept offensive team! Surely not fun to watch. Cohesion is something that time and practice will take care of. My posts are generally full of optimism and it's way too early to give up, but again, this is getting hard to watch!

It would help if the Magic had quality ball movement, guys that set screens in a non-lazy fashion, players moved with a purpose..... And Vucevic stayed closer to the blocks.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

I'm sure a correction is coming. Last night was a good start. There is just no way he will end the season sub 45% FG. He's proven himself plenty of times before.
