Re: Alex Len
Don't worry guys he is just practicing his gymnastic skills between plays.
Can you believe we actually picked this guy in the draft?

Yeah I like how he's been playing recently. Hopefully this is the baseline level of play or the foundation for something more in the future. Just don't regress once Tyson comes back.

Yeah started wondering (hoping?) that it's a JJ-Penny thing... If he knew he was "alone" in the middle would it boost his confidence and his play?

Re: Alex Len
He is still not worth a new contract. Not even close at this point.

Len does seem to play better when he starts and knows hes gonna get consistent minutes. I dont know if its a flow of the game thing or that he tries to do too much too quickly coming off the bench. Thats why i would have preferred they move Chandler this summer to get a better look at len.
Id be ok resigning him to backup center money at this point. But its still early and he certainly could raise his value as the season progresses. From a physical standpoint hes still a good prospect but im just not sure he has the feel for the game to hit his max potential.

Me neither, but we have invested too much into him not to find out. He's gonna get his 10+ mill no matter what, so I'd rather have Sarver pay it for him than anybody else. At 15+ mill I'm out and I hope the team is out (unless he averages 15/10/2 from now on).

10 days ago, I was thinking that we won't match anything above 15 MD when we didn't extend his contract.
But then he started to play really good and if he continues like that, I think we can give 17-18 MD. As you can see it is a huge if.

Why do you think there has been a sudden change in his production?

Re: Alex Len
Len's issues are obviously psychological. He's got all the physical tools in the world, we really have to be patient with him.

He started the season very slow but has looked much better lately, partly due to Chandler being out. Are you hoping Toronto can get him? Not a fan of Jonas V or Poeltl? I noticed you guys talking about JV being extremely show closing out/covering the pick n roll switches. I also noticed Poeltl had gotten quite a few minutes earlier.

Re: Alex Len
Yeah, mentioned it a cpl days ago somewhere that he might have the same insecurity that JJ had when we had Penny "watching over his shoulder". I'm really curious to see how he does the rest of the season.
Oh, and just to bring in some numbers:

He is a starter pretty much the last few games since Chandler been out. Food for thought.

Re: Alex Len
I have noticed he has also been much more careful about his outside jumper. In the first 5 games he had a green light from there, now he is more selective. He has also been hitting it when he does take it, which is a bonus.
I also agree with the above, the biggest issue with Len is between the ears right now. Confidence does wonders for a basketball player. He does also seem to continue to strengthen his core. He is still getting moved around too easily.

I've changed my mind at this point - I don't think it's between the ears. I think it's coaching. Since they stopped letting him it from outside and told to just go be a big man, he's been so much better. And the bonus is - once he started focusing on defense, rebounding and finishing, he started stringing good plays together. And so when he got his rare post touch, he only had to think about that one possession, and he was already on a roll and... he made the bucket.
Keep him coming a roll, and he may one day develop the offensive game the front office obviously thought him capable. Just keep staying big!

Re: Alex Len
Lens play of late is going to force the suns into an interesting decision when chandler is ready to come back. Do they leave len in the starting lineup and hope he keeps up his improved play or does chandler get his spot back?
If it were up to me id leave len as the starter but if i were in charge chandler wouldnt be on the team so maybe im biased. I will say that alex showing he can contribute either starting or from the bench makes him more valuable in my eyes because even if they resign him they should be open to upgrading at center if the opportunity presents itself.

Re: Alex Len
Alex has earned that starting job based on his recent play. I imagine it was probably the plan to give it to him at some stage this year. Honestly more disappointed that we served up Quese's starting job on a platter. Alex needs to stay in this groove by keeping the minutes and role consistent.

I would be satisfied with 10/10/2.
