Re: Game 17: Wolves @ Suns
That was just a big choke job by the team. Can't blame any individuals. Not sure if they thought they had the game in hand when it was 72-60. I thought Tyus Jones changed the momentum for them.
Len was fine other than the inbound turnovers. He just gotta think stuff through on the court.

Len had 7 turnovers. Not the sole reason we took the L but it wasn't good.

Booker was horrible, worse than the stats. Dumb fouls, turnovers, would not take a shot. Ulis looked bad too. Bledsoe looked very good. Knight, while not shooting well always seems to frustrate his defender. He brushes by his defender creating contact and fouls.
One ref kept calling moving screens all night in both teams. They were all frustrated with it. Lots of bad calls both ways. This was a poorly officiated game.
Lavines dunk was amazing. But Wiggins just turned it on in the 4th and the Starting an just fell apart.
Chriss had KAT for a defensive assignment all night. He did a decent job until the 4th.

I was at the game too and i agree that len battled pretty well on d. No complaints there from me. The 3 inbound passes being stolen was ridiculous and unacceptable though. The moving screens werent really on him because that ref was super trigger happy with those calls all night and our guards are pretty bad at timing screens.
Booker was TERRIBLE. He had a half dozen or so plays that were so dumb you would bench an eighth grader for making them.
Id be fine never seeing barbosa, tucker, dudley and chandler on the court together ever again.. that lineup to start the 4th was embarrassing. Hell id be fine with not seeing mist if those guys in a suns uniform anymore.
Though chriss was decent, he battled on d and even though he didnt shoot well I thought he was alright on O. Hes raw as hell but minutes will help him. Bender needs to play more and he needs to get stronger. Ulis is quick as hell with a great handle... but if he cant hit open mid range jumpers he wont make it as an nba player.

And Blesoe's 7 TOVs??? No mention of how that might have influenced the loss? Just saying...what's good for the goose...

And that's the problem against teams like Minny with a 6'10" Bjelica, 6'11" Aldrich, 6'11" Dieng, and a 7' KAT like last night, when we have, and rotate, Len and Chandler. They are playing KAT and Dieng together, while we are playing Len and Dudley--just not going to work well. And Minny didn't even play Payne, Hill, or Pekovic. Literally, it almost looked like we were playing a group of tiny college freshman, sometimes.
I know, size doesn't always matter, but it sure felt like it did last night from what I saw at times. And it does limit what a coach can and cannot do from time to time.

Oh yeah. Bledsoe was not good either.

Yes, kind of strange, but maybe a lot of people out for the weekend. Also perhaps people at AZ/ASU game and also the AZ basketball team is playing Butler in a tight game.
I thought lilfishi and some others were around though. Nav is around the boards I think but I guess he doesn't watch the games (though I thought he got the reddit link and a video by Kerrsed of how to navigate through the little x's you have to close to avoid the pop ups and stuff.
And then someone pointed out last night that Once Upon A Dime was a previously banned poster so I think that poster is gone now too.
I was, and he did, but Quigglez found me another solution that will likely work better, because in our household, once 5 PM rolls around, it's 'family time', and that doesn't include basketball. It DOES include the Steelers, so I can't complain that much, but 'No Way' on the NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, or whatever else, front. So my option is the morning after, which I'm about to watch a little now.
Oh, and I see we have a new Len hater on the board, Sch'Naw-Len'Kempoop, or something to that effect, so JDiddy has a friend. Never mind his 11 TRB or 4 Blks. And unless I missed it schnakenpopanz or JDiddy didn't mention a PEEP about our PG...you know, the guy who is SUPPOSED TO KNOW how to handle a basketball better than anyone else on the court, ALSO had 7 TOVs...NOPE...Just how terrible Alex Len is. Just amazing how two fans can have such a biased agenda against ONE player, and all the while, not bothering to bring up the GOOD things that Alex Len does like, oh, IDK, LEAD the team in BLKs (4) and also TRB...with 11, 9 of which being DRB, so no "he just got his own missed shots as rebounds" excuse.
Yep, 9 DRBs and 4 BLKs TOTALLY indicate a 'soft' player...get outta here with that junk. It's the same thing, game thread after game thread; it's all about the negative of Alex Len, as opposed to the positive he brings to the table.
And so I don't sound like a hypocrite, it was nice to see Bledsoe in double digit Assts this game; unfortunately we still lost, but it wasn't due to his increased level of assts, so I hope we continue to see more of that in the future.
We have quite a few haters for Tucker, Knight (I think both of them far more than Len), Bender, Chriss, Bledsoe and probably others.

Right. I don't hate Len. I just don't want to sign him for the salary he will command. Just look at what Dieng got. I'm worried. Especially when Chandler is still getting $13M/yr for 2 more years.
Knight & Tucker otoh? I'd give Ulis all of Knight’s minutes and Bender most of Tucker's. Warren being out is really messing with minutes distribution right now. Tucker is playing way too much.

You can keep saying it, but it is not true. Len makes some mistakes, but he is a force defensively. He just is.

You are right about the offensive fouls on Len. The ref was trigger happy against both teams. When a big man comes out to set a screen and the guard makes his move before he can get set, the fault is on the guard.
Chriss was better on D than I expected. He has no real confidence in his shot and he pouted coming off the court. I love Bender's attitude.
Ulis is a pest defensively. He took the ball away from Rubio immediately on coming into the game. Teams give him the lane and then just block his shot.
Overall, the offense did not look that effective. Players were just not getting open. The running game was unimpressive as well. We have guards who run the floor, but no wings on the break. So they were constantly pulling up to run a half court set. A player like Shawn Marion would have had dunks all day. Maybe Warren would have done that.
Knight really frustrates everyone. Fans and whoever is guarding him. He has a brush by move that gets him calls.

I was definitely going to mention that when I do my Nashty voting.

How so, exactly? Every game, you, JDiddy, and Schnakempoop say the same thing--Len Sucks, he needs to go. Yet those that actually watch him play have a different take. How is it that happens?? No, Len is not an Offensive guru, and he's a bit awkward with the ball in his hands (now that I've watched the preponderance of the last couple of games).
But defensively, it's like they are saying. Len was terrorizing the middle. He's Blocking shots and getting defensive rebounds like it's no one's business. In his last 5 games, he has 14 Blks and 50 Rebounds while averaging about 28 MPG. What more do you want from our Center? To look better doing it?? I don't care what he looks like; I care about the results.
In Nov he's shooting 55% and slashing 9.7/9.3/1.7 Blks in 24.5 MPG. Please find me 10...shoot, 8 starting Centers that are putting up better per36 numbers in November.
Fans wanted him to improve, and guess what, he's improved...like markedly, and there are fans out there you still aren't happy. No, he's not AD or KAT or Embiid or Cousins, but he's easily a top 10 starting Center right now.

One last thing. Are we sure watson isnt in on the tank and trying to lose? Its the best explanation as to why he does some things like subbing knight out in the 1st quarter after he had started hot. Now i dislike knight as much as anyone else but when hes on a rare hot streak you might as well ride him. I dont care that he had 2 fouls, he a guard and should be able to not get 4 more fouls the rest of the way no matter how many minutes he plays.

Not only that, wouldn't it also be in our best interest to 'showcase' Knight when he's hot, while we are in the process of shopping him? So subbing him out was 'doubly' a bad idea, when you think should be wanting him to rack up those stats, it's not a great idea to take him out. And honestly, let him foul out. No one os going to remember that; they will remember 25 pts, 7 assts, 3 stls and 5 Rebounds, or whatever. But when you take him out then, you are taking him out of his 'groove.'
