not a bad company.

Removing the horrorific first 4 games Murray averages in 11 games

0.500 (3P%) with 4.9 3PA

This is asinine-- he's played 15 games. You can't compare that to anyone's full season worth of games. You also can't arbitrarily remove ~27% of his games and compare it to a players full season.

In your opinion is asinine in my not.

A good shooter you already guess from the first 15 games (1/5 of season).
All other players in the list were already beginning to shoot well (up 0.350 with good volume as Murray) in the first 15 games.

A streak of more of 10 games with 27/54 3P is not so simple or fortuity as you would have us believe.

Murray defense

Post#502 » by mcmurphy » Fri Nov 25, 2016 9:31 pm

I have seen several matches of Murray in this start of season and it does not seem very poor in defense.
He has very quick feet and bypass very quickly screens, being always very close to his man.

This is also confirmed by the Defense tracking statistics, where is far better than average instead of Dunn (in this thread regarded as an elite defender).

Talk To Me About Davis Bertans

Very impressed with this Spurs' rookie from Latvia. He's looked quite solid the last few games.

Anybody know more about him?

he was part of the kawhi leonard trade... could turn out to be one of the worst deals ever for indiana (if it isnt already)

This dude is shooting 47% from 3p this season as rookie LOL

If he pans out, Indy fans will be in a suicide watch.

Hill for Leonard and Bertans about to be in the top 5 worst trades of all-time.

He's Matt Bonner on Steroids. Not a great defender by any means but fairly mobile and has already had a few nice blocks. I think most Spurs fans are praying that Pop keeps him in the rotation when Dedmon returns and he inevitably hits the rookie wall. He's so much valuable than Kyle Anderson, who we were trying to put at the stretch 4 spot

Looks like he's taken the Matt Bonner role as the Spurs sharp-shooting stretch 4. Doesn't seem to have enough overall skill to be much more than that.

Bertans has a lot of length and can contest shots pretty well. Next season he's going to look like a totally different player. That shooting touch is a weapon.

Pure shooter. Super soft high arching shot with a quick release. He has no problem taking deep 3's, the ball looks like it's going in wherever he shoots it. He's also a pretty solid passer for a 6'11 guy. Defensively he gets lost often, but he tries hard and has noticeably improved since the season started. He gets pushed around very easily, however he's very quick and deceptively athletic. He can easily get off the floor to block shots as well as play the passing lanes for steals.

He's got alot to learn but if his progress continues as it has I believe the Spurs have uncovered another gem. He just needs to get his weight up and get some experience.

Imagine what he could do if he didn't have a missing finger.

Yeah I read the missing finger thing, really interesting he still shoots so well.

He has an older brother (27yrs) Dairis who also tried out for the Spurs in a Summer League a year or two ago.

Davis is surprisingly athletic, being able to finish with dunks and get up for blocks but he is extremely slow laterally which is what will limit his minutes more than anything.

My critical analysis from the highlights I've seen - is this kid a homeless mans Porzingis? Quite possibly.

For real though, he has a very similar stroke and looks to be somewhat mobile. Upgrade on the Bonner role.

not sure the rookie wall will be so bad for him given his pro history in europe before the nba, but who knows really

he's had some knee problems but if he stays healthy he could be a very decent bench player

a nice find for the spurs

I want to talk to you about Euthanasia.

Can we stop with these awful thread titles?

BTW, I mean Euthanasia the classic Megadeth album. It was really cutting edge for its time.

Yeah, we rarely talk about them. They're really "starved for attention", or so they say.

LOL

You were obviously joking, but to chime in, Bertans gives you very little outside of spot up shooting, but he is very good at that.

Kris Dunn is among the most atrocious offensive players I have ever seen (and I still bemoan the pick because of it)... but his defense is already among the elite among the NBA at Point-Guard. He is legitimately that good.
