What's the story on Garoppolo? Don't follow him enough to know if he would be worth a trade or is Cassel 2.0

But I would bring in two rookie QBs and roll with the one that has the best offseason to start the season.

With the state the team is in right now having an aging vet at QB is just a waste and I would rather give reps to someone that might be a long term answer at the spot instead of a stop gap with no future at all.

I'd stay away from NE. Any trade with them will end up fleecing us.

I'm about sold on Trubisky. Dude has it all IMO. Too bad he'll be a Brown. :(

He'd actually be Matt Cassel 4.0.

Matt Cassel 2.0 was Matt Flynn, and 3.0 was Brock Osweiler.

I like Mitch too, but that top pass rusher looks like a more than decent 2nd choice. Tyler Rogers is still my top QB. He checks all the boxes on the field.

Garrett is still a fine choice!

I'm torn between whom I'd prefer between Garrett and Trubisky. I'd probably take Garrett.

Build a team the way the Seahawks, Cowboys and Niners did to a lesser extent. Build a great team & then throw a cheap, rookie-contract QB in there.

From the other thread:

Kaepernick has at least 2 TDs passes in 3 of his last 4 games now.

Keep him for vet minimum while they build up the other position groups.

No worse than any of the other options discussed.

Keep throws high on tight-window throws. One was corner pattern which was a difficult completion.

Then a seam pattern on the last drive of the game.

Almost 300 yards, 3 TDs and 1 int, which may or may not have been his fault (did he throw behind Smith on that INT, not lead him?).

Over 100 yards rushing.

Now unless there's a franchise QB worth taking in the top 5 and playing next year, maybe Kaep if he takes a below-market contract.

Kaep can opt out of his contract... trubisky or Kaaya would be good . But im hoping for Garrett and we all know with the torn acl crush Baalke will be rubbing one out until he gets to draft Kelly..hopefully in the second roun instead of the first...

Kaep probably won't have too many takers.

His political stances probably alienate a lot of owners who tend to be conservative.

So he'd have to take a low salary prove-it type of contract.

Unless the 49ers get a prospect that they think is worth developing, they might as well retain Kaep or get some vet (not Gabbert) while they try to fix the defense. Especially if they get Garrett.

I forgot about Mason Rudolph.

I guess if I'm going to include Kaaya I should include Geno. ImageImageImageImageImage

Matt Maiocco reports that Chip Kelly cites 3 areas in which Kaep has improved:

1. Pocket presence
2. Accuracy
3. Understanding of pass protections.

Why stop there? Why not E.J. Manuel? Brett Hundley?

Man this makes me feeling depressed. The lack of quality QBs...Is a serious crisis that will plague us for at least two years.
