They are playing on Christmas? I thought they always cleared the way for the NBA on Christmas.
Of course SD blew a 3 score lead early in the season to KC in a mind boggling loss IN KC and beat Denver. And now perhaps another division winner, Houston, on the road. What a waste of a season for the Chargers. I still have slim hopes they win out and Denver and Miami go on serious losing streaks though, as well as Buffalo and either Pitt/Balt losing at least 2.
Yep, because Christmas falls on a Sunday there will be a couple NFL games and this will be the night game. Most of the games are on Christmas Eve though.
That's weird. Last time it fell on a Sunday they play ALL the games on Saturday and always play all final games on same day. They almost always do that so teams fighting for playoff spots and all those teams play in late games so they don't know what's happening in other games that might have a bearing on their playoff positioning (ie, you don't want teams losing on purpose because they know they are in, when their opponent might get in preventing someone else from getting in because they beat a team not trying). I don't think that's mainly the only reason, because to some extent you can't help that if teams have clinched the 1 seed or something and rest their players going in.
But it's a lot more exciting that way.
Edit: NVM - That's not the last week of the season, but they still usually didn't play on Christmas day I thought. Maybe that's when it WAS the final week. I'm almost positive it happened before where the last week was earlier, even after they started having byes. They did used to start the season on Labor Day weekend as well, but I think that was a long time ago as well.
