I don't see the big deal.

We already knew what was happening once we traded for him and Noah.

You optimistic folks are in for a world of hurt.

Just do like me & Shamm and just accept the Knick lifestyle.

I now he's a polarizing figure around here but I'd honestly rather roll with Jennings for another year or two than committing to Rose.

I think we could get a decent vibe on how some of the main 2017 FAs are swaying by the end of the season, if all seem out of the realm of possibility... it's not a bad idea- mainly because it keeps us from offering a 5 year deal in the summer haha. Obviously, with his injury history, any long term deal is scary... but a 3 year deal is sort of that sweet spot between "if he goes down, we're screwed" and "if he's an all star again, we don't lose him as a FA."

Now it makes no sense, but it's a very interesting idea to look into around March/ April.

The target should be CP3 obviously. I'm hoping the spurs knock them out in the second round because that will be 6 years in a row of the Paul-Griffin combo not getting it done. There are also trades we can do. I'm not opposed to giving up draft picks if the player we are getting back is an all-star.

I pointed out yesterday that eric bledsoe has a slash line of 19.2ppg/5.9rbs/5.4ast and he can shoot the 3 ball, get to the free throw line and play defense. Also he knows hornaceks system. He would probably come alot cheaper than other guys given his injury history.

when is the last time CP3 had a healthy season?

i don't care, he is worth the risk. He's a top 5 player period. besides he is way healthier than D Rose.

He sure as hell is not coming here though

Not opposed to keeping Rose, just have to see how he plays for the rest of the year.

Seriously, you guys expect every top player in the league to sign here and the only one we've gotten to sign was STAT and we had to max him out when no other team would.

CP3 isn't coming here...I see no reason why he'd want to entrust the next 4 years of his career to this organization.

they are also "not ruling out" letting him walk at the end of the season. see what i did there? a question was asked so they had to give an answer, this is as basic and generic of a response that could have been given, yet people still want to look to deep into things.

in no place in the article did it say the Knicks were trying to get the deal done with any sense of urgency.

they're probably gonna do this to maximize cap space because his new salary will be less than his cap hold. cap hold is a little over 30. his new contract is gonna start at about 22 according to this. plus this will be only 3 years. maybe if he says no they let him walk.

i agree. if I was CP3 i would want to play with Kawhi Leonard because he is another top 5 player. CP3 + Kawhi + Lamarcus + Pop is at least 2 guaranteed championships. In fact I'm pretty sure that is where he goes after the clips lose in the 2nd round again.

That sounds like a plan and he should do that

It is great to know that an organization that doesn't blink at throwing away hundreds of millions of dollars on faded stars has a furniture budget that can only afford to shop on Overstock.com

He would be taking a huge risk turning down the extension. Most of the teams in the league already have their starting PG's locked up for next season. He also doesn't seem to be interested in the smaller market teams, I can't see him being interested in a team like Indiana or New Orleans or even Minny. The only other real option would be the LA Clippers if CP3 would decide to walk away. I think if they offer him an extension for 3 years at 22 Mil per, I doubt he passes that up since it keeps him in NY.

CBA experts: chime in.

Perhaps it works both ways if we can possibly offer him a two year extension, with the second year as a player option. That would probably entice Rose to play harder next year, while also keeping our options open to 2018.

So maybe: 2 years, 45 million?

Rose/Noah need to recruit Taj Gibson. Taj or bust heading into free Agency
