Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
Potentially interesting development for the Goodwin fans.
@Chris_Reichert
Archie Goodwin has signed a contract with the NBA D-League, a source tells @The_Step_Back #NBADL
@AdamJNBA @robelliott6 Swarm are No. 1 right now
Latter tweet is in regard to waiver order.

Got to see him in person the other day. Very smooth, played within the offense. He's an NBA player, I know we won't but it'd be nice to take a shot on him. Someone is going to.

If Xavier Munford's agent hasn't already received a call from MEM, my guess is one is coming.

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
If I were the Hornets I would waive Brian Roberts and sign Munford; immediately
EDIT: Munford goes 0-10, 0-4 from 3 & 0-2 ft in 30 mins tonight. Did mgmt tell him to tank so MEM wouldn't sign him, or was his mind elsewhere???

Well, yeah...but still. He's another NBA talent like Munford (whom we traded a DL 1st for) that we could "develop" under our system and coaches. Hope we keep him, but I would assume a trade would get us bank the pick we traded for Munford.

That's what I figured. An NBA team could just sign him if they wanted to, right?
Wonder if Cho has another D league guy he's been eyeing or if he just wanted to sacrifice our waiver position for a future pick.

BREAKING: The Swarm have acquired guard Archie Goodwin @A1Laflare10 and he is now the newest member of the Greensboro Swarm. https://t.co/un4xxHeuop
Do they do this if they're just planning on turning around and trading him? Probably.

@RidicUpside
Earlier today, the Greensboro Swarm claimed Archie Goodwin off D-League waivers. Despite other reports, he's expected to stay in Greensboro.
@DLeagueDigest
Greensboro did actively shop Goodwin after claiming him. It appears they could not find a deal for him. https://t.co/s7jz8uwUCx
Sure they couldn't...

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
How much is his contract if we bring him up from the dleague? Would we have to sign him? He's straight up better than Harrison so why not swap them

No 10-day deals until January 5, so it'd have to be for at least a year. Which isn't really a problem as they could just make it unguaranteed. His minimum would be a little over $1M, his cap hit a little under that, both of which would be marginally higher than Harrison's $850k.

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
I wouldn't assume that Archie Goodwin is any better an NBA prospect right now than Aaron Harrison. Harrison is bigger, has a better NBA 3pt average (25% to 23% lol), is several months younger and has been in the Hornets system for several years. Don't get me wrong I'm not a Harrison apologist, but there aren't a lot of 6'6 22 year old big strong wings, and CHA mgmt clearly has seen something they like in him (maybe they've been eyeing his brother Andrew's adjustment in MEM). There are a lot of skinny 6'4-6'5 wings in the D League who could shoot in college, but they have to quicken their release and strengthen their bodies at the next level. Until we see him play, I'm not even sure Goodwin is better than Rasheed Sulaimon, who looks pretty good on occasion against the slo-mo D League defenses. If you're looking for a replacement for Sessions, Xavier Munford is better than all of these guys imo.
here's an example of Harrison's occasional nifty play in the DLeague (from last Fri), check out the move at 1:05:
