And how would something like "No we have no intentions to re-sign Rose! Have you seen him play?!" impact Roses game?
Think of this as it's just the right thing to say at this moment. But don't think that Phil would pass on CP3 to resign Rose.

You forgot to add "pay twice as much true market value".

Thing is, aside from Rose being a bad player (which is hard to ignore), we would be paying him big money for multiple years - this is something I don't want to do. At all. I'd rather sign Collison, Livingston, or try to trade for Bledsoe (or some other PG on crowded teams) instead of paying Rose.
sign patty mills and re-sign ennings, those 2 would be 10x's better than derrick rose.
but of course pray the knicks get one of these nice pg prospects coming out of the draft.
patty mills.....would love to see him here but, can't see him leaving his present situation. Isn't he in a good place in SA?
definitely, he might even be the heir to tony parker.

I don't see that as better, so not sure where the "boom" is. That's a lot of wishful thinking sure. Rose may not be the MVP Rose but what you are offering up (basically swapping out Rose with a random PG pick likely in the 12-18 range plus either Randle or Baker (who haven't played a game in the NBA and was apparently so good that no GM drafted either of them) is nothing. Jennings inclusion is irrelevant since they can bring him back with Rose.
Were you one of the guys that though Jason Smith was going to be something? And that Lance Thomas was a must resign?
Look at the guys in his vicinity. Do you think they are getting $25m? Why pay a guy that produces so poorly so much? Makes no sense, other than you are scared of the unknown.
You'd literally probably get the same or better production from the combo I listed.
I'll be quite honest, and I've said this in the past, you can't take all stats as gospel.
of course you can when it doesn't fit your agenda.

go ahead, still doesn't mean rose isn't trash
also rolo is 227th in the entire nba in RPM, while rose is 376th in the entire nba ... so whatever point you're trying to prove, keep in mind that rolo is more productive on the court than rose.

I don't know what all these advanced stats are or mean but I do know that Rose is as mediocre as one can be.
How many times do I have to see rose porzingis pick and roll, rose drawing both defenders leaving kris open for pick and pop and he never gets the ball.
How many times do I have to see rose throw cross court passes right into defenders hands.
I don't wanna see his ugly ass 3 point shot.
Having said all that. I'm glad he drives to the rack. Been missing that since who knows how long.

True. The idea of giving either one $25m/year would be asinine.

Re: Knicks not ruling out DRose extension later in the season
Derrick Rose got off to a slow start after missing all of preseason due to legal issues, but he's steadily improving.
Rose is averaging 32.1 minutes per game (the highest dating back to his All-Star year of 2011-2012).
Rose is averaging 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds (career high) and 0.7 steals per game.
Rose has a FG% of .437% which is the highest it's been dating back to 2010-2011 and even higher than his All-Star season of 2011-2012.
His advanced statistics are also improving (over night). BlueNorange is incorrect. Rose is not rated as "one of the worst PG's in the entire NBA". Rose has a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) of 15.77, which ranks 24th amongst all NBA PG's and Rose ranks 16th (amongst all NBA PG's) in value & wins added. His TS% (True Shooting Percentage) of .502% is the highest it's been dating back to his All-Star season of 2011-2012.
At this rate he'll be ranked top 12 in Player Efficiency Rating and top 10 in Value/Estimated Wins Added amongst all NBA PG's in no time; his trend is pointing upwards.
Rose after missing offseason time is surrounded by 4 starters in which he never played with in the NBA and as a starting PG he's in a new system under a new head coach in Jeff Hornacek. As time goes on we'll begin to see a much improved and more efficient Rose (his numbers have already improved tremendously since the beginning of the season and still increasing).

are you aware how pathetic a .502 ts% is? that's below average.
melo has a .533 ts% which is average, and it falls in line with the past 2 seasons which have been average ball.
kristaps? he has a .598 ts% which is elite.

RPM alone to compare players on different teams is pretty useless. It is by no means a stat you can use to rank players by position.
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

also if you're going to do it, make sure the player your defending isn't ranked behind by 100 spots the player you're trashing.
