As far as pgs in the east, walker is probably second to lowry at the moment. walker still has a top 5 rpm for pgs, equal VORP, similar ts%. both defensive bull dogs, its what separates them from wall and kyrie. You have to think walker could still get hot again, he has been pretty normal the past few weeks, while lowry has gone bonkers.

Hard to believe there are still people out there who think Kemba is not a good defender. He's small, which limits his ability to defend bigger players, but he's still a good defender.

edit, obviously the last sentence should say "contests"

Im still having trouble comprehending how good Kemba is now. I always thought he should model his game after Tony Parker and be a slightly poor mans version of him (at best). At this point im not convinced he isnt on track to be slightly better Parker.

I just think people didn't have the patience to believe in his progression and jumped to the conclusion that he'd be better served as a scoring guard off the bench. Being drafted into a perceptually losing organization/franchise didn't help matters either. If you look at the gradual increase in play from Kemba's rookie year until now it's not unbelievable to believe that he's one of the better point guards in the league at this point. If he can stay void of injuries, we haven't seen the best of Kemba yet

The fact that Kemba has become lights out from 3 has separated his play style drastically from TP.

I don't think there's a comparison to even be made. Kemba is a legitimate offensive star now. Parker was more of a media creation i.e. derek jeter type of star because he dated celebrities and played on big stages.

He was a defensive liability and a solid offensive player but he certainly was never an elite one like Kemba has recently become.

Parker gets the nod for body of work possibly but he never peaked anywhere close to what Kemba is doing right now.

If Kemba played like he does now straight out of the draft, he would be considered a legit CP3 level superstar. Fortunately we've flown under the radar enough that I think his image as a lower tier PG never solidified.

Tony Parker was a multiple time all-star, all-NBA player and MVP candidate for a couple of seasons. I love Kemba, but this is downright disrespectful.

It's certainly accurate. Parker is more famous for his tabloid exposure and off the court prowess with ladies than actual basketball performance.

Had he not played with generational talents like Duncan, ginobili, and Leonard he'd be remembered as a solid player, not a top PG.

His fg% was heavil skewed by the fact he didn't take 3-pters so his stats are much less impressive when you accurately assess his offensive contributions. His defensive liabilities are well documented.

I'm not really dissing Parker, but it's quite a huge disrespect to Kemba to even compare the level he's currently playing at to Parker's peak output.

The two simply aren't comparable at the moment.

INJURY REPORT 12/16 vs BOS
@hornets G Kemba Walker will miss game vs BOS for excused personal reasons. Will rejoin team vs ATL on 12/17

Believe that's a first for Kemba.

Was really looking forward to facing him. He and IT have some nice battles (though IT might miss this game too).

Not related to the knee injury. I wonder what is going on. Hope all is well in his life.

I kinda wonder if this is DNP - Rest and thus actually related to the knee injury, or if he really has something else altogether going on.

Usually personal reasons is a death in the family. Hope everything's alright Kemba.

In terms of basketball, I'm glad he's getting the day off. We're playing a ton of games in a short amount of time, Kemba looks exhausted from carrying the offense every game, it's part of a tough back-to-back, and he sure as hell doesn't need the ever-reckless Marcus Smart flopping around and dive bombing at his legs. I'll take an L or two if it means a healthy Kemba all season.
