I'm certain that most of this came from Durant wanting to leave and people putting stuff in his head. Remember Kerr saying he doesn't get the ball enough? Him suddenly running point with the bench? All of that was a futile effort to get him to stay. I doubt Donovan really thought that Durant should have the ball in his hands that much. Hell, remember how we had him play like Kyle Korver at the start of last season? You don't suddenly go from there to 'Give him the ball all the time' based on basketball reasons.

Its funny looking back just how many things the thunder did near the end to appease Durant. Not that you can really blame them for it, but it does make you wonder. I think Durant was one foot out of the door before the playoffs even started. The fact the thunder made it as far as they did probably made the decision harder, but his mind was probably already made up mostly. Things worked out the way they were supposed to though. Westbrook is a more natural leader for this thunder team. He seems to enjoy the responsibility.

Feel like this quote unintentionally says a lot about Mitch mcgary.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

I think we all knew, before he was let go, that McGary was like that. I'm still upset that Porzingis pulled out of that draft at the last minute. It looked like he was going to fall into our laps.

I think it also speaks to Sabonis, in a positive way, who has been reported to watch as much film as possible. It could also have been targeted to some of the younger players currently on the team like Semaj, Huestis, Grant and Abrines. I haven't heard anything to suggest any of them slack at practice, but it took a while for reports on McGary to leak.

Reggie about to get sacked. Let's trade for him and send him to the D-Leeague for the remainder of his contract.
