Net's lose another opportunity to obtain a valuable asset, especially the asset is a legit 7 footer, a mobile stretch 4 with low post skills and can pass. nowadays if you dont play 4 out or 5 out you gonna be left behind, sooner or later you have to obtain a legit stretch 4 to stay competitive. Booker is not that answer yet, plus RHJ cant shoot 3 good enough, Brook has to stay on the perimeter way too long to maintain spacing, wasting his low post skill and if shooters miss those 3pt shots, it's undersized Booker inside to fight for those offensive rebounds. Hamilton is too slow to play 4 and Luis Scola should retire. Acquiring a legit stretch 4/small ball 5, will put everyone back to their comfort position and solve a lot of lineup problem. now it's Brook playing stretch 5 to compensate the flaws of our roster and other guys, I dont see it's working out.

you are not losing a mediocre guy, you are missing the opportunity to fix your roster and catch up with everyone else in this league.

He played in a pretty mediocre way after his injury. It's risky. There's a reason no team signed him to an offer sheet and the Rockets didn't offer more. Detroit not wanting him was a red flag. Bennett is our hope.

Anyways, looks like chicken coming home to roost for aMorey.

Net's can do a though-rough medical as complex as they can to make sure his status. either dont make the offer at all if the risk is too high, or throw a really hard ball at Morey if they are "comfortable". event it's 12m they can structure it like the current offer, guarantee year by year. hell i would put in bonus clauses to make it up to 15m, he has been there, and with his work ethic, if he is healthy he certainly can play the same way. legit 7 ft mobile stretch 4 is in short in the league, and this gaping hole in the roaster would take Nets a lot more to fix in the future. not to mention Net's got no asset for trade.

just mark my words, in the future stretch 4/small ball 5 would be the biggest problem for NETs and you guys will keep talking about it again and again and the situation will be like you have 20m cap space but still no one would come. DMO is the rare one that is happy to play with NETS and can be the perfect solution if he is healthy, yet Morey matches it that screwed NETS and him, and we have to find that guy somewhere else, probably cant find nothing at all for a year.

Can the mods close this thread? We already got the doom and gloom 'you're going to regret Montijunas!' posters coming here ...they're the worst

Saying that if he fails physical, DMO could go to the NETs.....

sounds fishy and blatant to me but if thats in the contract.....dope

Houston matched the Nets offer contingent on Motiejunas passing a physical. If he fails a physical, the Rockets can withdraw their offer. Brooklyn’s offer sheet is invalidated. Motiejunas returns to RFA.

Brooklyn can’t sign or acquire him for one year.

This thread for all effects and purposes makes little sense now because the Nets are out of the equation.

There are people saying that if Dmo was to fail Houston's physical, he can become a Net.
"Passing a physical is a contingency on the First Refusal Exercise Notice. If he fails Houston’s physical, the FREN is voided, so Brooklyn’s offer sheet would become a contract."

our team is full of stretch bigs. i dont see that every being a concern with this administration.

nets didnt get screwed... the only way we would have been screwed was to overpay him a ton so houston wouldnt match and then be left overpaying a role player with injury questions for 4 years

Who cares about DMO anymore? He got matched and he's not that great anyhow. Move on.
