Re: Nets sign Spencer Dinwiddle to 3 Year Deal
I guess we should ask the Pistons board about him. His percentages from his two years on the Pistons are terrible but his percentages from his 3 years at Colorado are okay, especially his 3PT%. He's tall for a PG at 6-6. Doesn't seem like a real distributor though, his assist numbers were low during college.

Re: Nets sign Spencer Dinwiddle to 3 Year Deal
This is perfect! I'm not sure if I envision Spencer having a major transformation like we've seen from Ish Smith or Tim Frazier this season, but who knows. At the very least, Spencer will likely serve as solid, fundamentally sound competition with Whitehead for the backup PG role.
The scouting report seems perfect for the type of tall & strong guards Marks appears to be building around + sounds exactly like the ideal competition for Whitehead. Dinwiddie can fill in the void that losing Vasquez had on his development by providing another strong body to the PG rotation that won't allow Isaiah to simply overpower his way into scoring opportunities.
It looks like the guard rotation is definitely getting a boost with the signing and definitely raises the talent level of the competition in the crop.

This dude is kind of nasty. Long arms, his speed is kind of deceptive too, he hesitates and then bursts off the dribble. Good court vision. I need to see more of his jumper because the on paper %'s don't do him any favors.

Woj: Nets sign Spencer Dinwiddle to 3 Year Deal
Remember when we were talking about defense and lack of athleticism ? Yogi brought that but he's too short to defend at this level without being really good at scoring. This tells me Marks has a plan to rebuild with a lot of length like Milwaukee.

Would prefer to have a center that can defend and rebound. I guess they think Bennett will be able to do that?
3 year deal? Wow! I guess very little is guaranteed?
Is he gonna play immediately? Or Lin's coming back soon?

Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

Re: Woj: Nets sign Spencer Dinwiddle to 3 Year Deal
Awesome. I remember Dinwiddie well since the draft. We knew the Nets bought a 2nd round pick from the pistons, we just didn't know which pick. Thought it was Dinwiddie but it ended up being Markel Brown at 44 instead (haven't fact checked that yet so I could be misremembering).
Anyway I remember after the rosters were finalized a few people tossed Dinwiddie around as a guy we should look at. I didn't know he was putting up good numbers in the DLeague, but its good to see. I think the kid has potential to be a solid role player in the league so its nice to see the Nets take a chance on him.
This doesn't address our biggest problem though. We absolutely have to do something about our rebounding.

Which is why I said I could be misremembering. I know we had some weird connection to the pistons pick. It could've been we were negotiating for the pick or something like that but I definitely remembers something of the sort.
