Hornets Third 10: The Gaye Hornet Returns [2-0]
Hornets third 10 games:
12/5: @DAL W 109-101
12/7: DET W 87-77
12/9: ORL
12/10: @CLE
12/12: @IND
12/14: @WAS
12/16: @BOS
12/17: @ATL
12/20: LAL
12/23: CHI
Home Friday against ORL, and then 5 straight away games, kicking off @CLE on the second night of a B2B and concluding with a B2B @BOS and then @ATL. In the 9 day stretch from Dec. 9 to Dec. 17, we have 6 games, 5 on the road. Yikes.
Glad that Marv is back and healthy, some important games against EC playoff seed competitors coming up. Like seeing the multiple days off after ATL and LAL, should be some good time to practice and tune up a bit.
We started 2-0, guesses on how we end? Will be mildly optimistic and guess 6-4.

If I was coach 18th & 19th would be days off, maybe a walk through day. The schedule just hasn't given this team a break as far as days off is concerned. They're legs will probably need it by then.

Are you still batting 1000?
Id love to get a win against the Cavs, but second night of b2b is rough.
Im going with 6-4. I think we'll win the games you predicted and pick up one more, probably against the Hawks or Bulls.

Re: Hornets Third 10: The Gaye Hornet Returns [2-0]
Should Cliff look to rest starters at some point during this brutal stretch of 18 games in 32 days?
As mentioned, it wouldnt be the worst idea to go for win vs Magic and if we win, rest starters vs Cavs on 2nd night of B2B. We aren't winning in Cleveland on 2nd night of B2B. Just rest Kemba and Batum, at the very least.

Hoping for 7-3.
ORL, IND, WAS, LAL, CHI
I can totally get behind resting starters vs Cavs. Or just trot them out to start but play them 15mins.

This is a pretty rough stretch. We've benefitted from a recent soft spot in the schedule.
It's crazy because we could easily slide from #3 to #10 in the East by the end since it's such a tight race.
We are just getting absolutely nothing from the kaminsky/Marvin combo this year and it's really neutralizing Kemba's improvement. Mkg regressing on offense has hurt as well. We just aren't getting the same looks with him in there as we were last year with superior spacing. We really miss Lee's contributions. Zeller isn't getting nearly enough credit around the league since he's mostly a "does all the small things" but he's playing a huge role in our early success.
Unfortunately the old Hibbert defensive funneling days are over but he's been less bad offensively.

I think we need to cough up our first round pick for a SF or PF who can shoot the ball.
Our season is kinda hanging by a string here we are relying way too much on kemba
We need this wizards game or we are staring a 5 game losing streak in the face @bos and @atl

Re: Hornets Third 10: The Gaye Hornet Returns [2-0]
We should win out the rest of the year. That includes Cleveland at home on the 31st. Lets say we lose that one anyway. That would put us at 20-14 going into 2017, in decent shape. We have 6 tough games in January, and 9 games we should win. If we go 10-5, That would put us at 30-19 with a fairly favorable schedule the rest of the way. (1 against GSW, 2 against LAC, 1 against Hou, 1 against Cle, and 1 against Tor, other than that the rest are winnable/games we should win). I think 45 wins is attainable, 50 if we make a good trade/continue our late season dominance that we have in the Clifford. Should be plenty for the playoffs.
Just got to steal a few from these top teams. Cleveland, Boston, Toronto, Houston, OKC, Spurs. Lets be honest we have no shot against GSW and Blake will be back by the time we play the Clippers

I'd rather look at a combo guard like Brandon Knight. But you're right, we need more shooting. If we can get Knight for Hawes/Hibbert + Sessions + our 1st, we have to do it.
Kemba/Knight/Roberts
Batum/Bellinelli/more Knight
MKG/Lamb/Graham
Marvin/Frank/Wood
Zeller/whichever of Hibbert&Hawes is left over
Not thrilled with our depth up front if we suffer an injury but we can make do by going small (which I'm thrilled Cliff did yesterday)
investigate Adam Silver

Knight makes to much money to be a backup. There is no reason to trade a 1st round pick for a guy who shots under 40%, has a 12.8 per and a true shooting percentage under .50. The Suns should have to give us a 1st considering he makes between 13-15 mil per year on his current contract. Knight is no better then sessions based on the numbers he is putting up this year. I would rather give a 1st for Lou Williams, his numbers are way better and he makes half the money, but even better would be to just stick with sessions and keep the first. If we are going to make a trade I want Ibaka and his expiring contract for some of our dead weight plus a pick.

Hes having a down year so far. His stats from the last few seasons are much better. Also, hed easily get 28+ mpg here, especially if Cliff would commit to going small. He has the size and skillset to play with Kemba. Hed get 15 or so minutes ar PG and another 13+ at SG. My only concern is that Cliff wouldnt go small enough and it would cut Lamb out of the rotation, but otherwise I think getting Knight would be pretty close to ideal.

i'd rather have sessions than brandon knight. honestly, brandon knight, afflafo, some of you guys should tune into these teams, these players are horrible.

Re: Hornets Third 10: The Gaye Hornet Returns [2-0]
If Knight is getting those sorts of minutes, either you need to cut Marco's minutes by at least that much, play Lamb at PF, or take Lamb out of the rotation. Don't see how you bring in Knight, plan to play him next to Kemba, and still expect to give meaningful minutes to Lamb and Marco without significantly reducing minutes for Batum or MKG.

Some players are just bad fits or in dysfunctional situations.

If you watch suns games and see knight and want him on the hornets, i have nothing i can really say to that. he's not as good as sessions as a backup and thats saying something. Its funny once long ago on this forum people actually preferred knight to walker.
