I am quickly getting sick of Morris. He is averaging only 6.3 rebounds per 36. He shoots poorly (50% TS for a big) and way too often. What a waste of a first round pick.

Kief was important offensively last night in the third quarter. He made some tough shots when the Zards were behind and needed to score.

Sure you can pick out a quarter here and there when he shoots well but he loves midrange shots and shoots them horribly.

He is taking 4.5 shots per game from 10-22 feet while shooting them at 35.6%.

Morris doesn't seem to do any of the smart things that make the game easier. He doesn't move without the ball and find open seams like Porter does, so too many of his shots end up being in isolation with a defender contesting. He's actually a pretty skilled offensive player and I wouldn't be surprised if his FG% on contested midrange shots is actually pretty good, it's just that he takes way too many of them and not enough easy shots. Likewise, on defense, he does the hard things pretty well. He's a good man defender who will fight in the post to maintain position. But he doesn't do the mental things well. He's slow to rotate and has poor defensive awareness (which also impacts his rebounding).

At his age, I doubt that he's going to get much better at these things. He's either not too bright, doesn't listen to coaches, or he simply lacks the general instincts and court awareness necessary for good team basketball.

Also, by this time in the season Nene would have had a few injury setbacks and appeared in 14 games.

Wiz did play good D... in the second half - but not sure they can take full credit for Denver turning the ball over 29 times and shooting as poorly as they did from the perimeter. Not to mention, Jameer Nelson is a poor excuse for a PG - they really need Mudiay back. With all that, it shouldn't have been a close game - if we were a good team.

Nelson played well and John was out of rhythm on his jumper most of the night. I don't think Mudiay would have closed the gap in PG play all that much.

The things he is currently criticized for--poor help/team defense, poor shot selection, weak rebounding--were mentioned as concerns at the time of his acquisition, even by a few Suns fans. Statistically, he is having one of his worst seasons. Maybe he'll move closer to his career norms as the season plays out, or maybe this is the beginning of a decline. What if he just lacks the discipline to adjust his game when he can no longer rely on old instinct and athleticism?

If Ian ever gets healthy I'd be interested in seeing a Tomas-Thornton-McLellen-Morris-Ian bench.

I like this, except McClellan over Thornton and just play Oubre starters minutes along with keef.
