Rejecting the QO and signing this deal is a indication that Dmo himself doesn't have confidence in his back. I doubt he cares about those team options, no team was going to give him a multi-year guaranteed deal anyway. His priority was getting big money in year 1 of his deal and by rejecting the QO and going into this whole ordeal he was able to squeeze out an extra $4 million.

I'm glad it is over and the Rockets protected themselves in case his back goes out. More importantly, i'm glad he is back and that he can help them this year. I will fully back him this year.

Yea, it may not be the greatest deal in the world but any day you sign a contract for $8.3 million dollars and secure your financial future for the rest of your life (if your smart) with 6 months of "work"..... it's a good day.

Way too simplistic a take, but whatever floats your boat.

All that commotion for naught. A more player-friendly version of the same deal was on the table months ago.

At this point, unless D-Mo's back has the structural integrity of wet tissue paper, I don't see how BJ Armstrong can convince him or anyone else that he served D-Mo well here.

If his back is awful that makes getting only 1 year guaranteed even worse

Not when the richest free agent market in NBA history wasn't even offering you that.
Remember the dude got zero interest during this past summer's spending spree.

Yeah.. Partially because of the restricted free agency process
Just to be clear I meant it makes it worse for him. Back goes out this year he gets cut and He's done

Welcome back DMo. Special thanks goes to double agent Bj Armstrong.

This can be one of the best contracts in the league, if he can stay healthy (and D'Antony plays him). Motiejunas is a highly skilled offensive player who made huge strides on defense during the 2014/2015 season.

Not necessarily, he could have faith and still wanting to be on the safe side.

Rockets must be happy with the revised contract terms. Three option years in their favor and it puts it back on D-Mo to become a member of the rotation.

Rockets had their best season in the Harden 'era' with Motiejunas playing and starting plenty of games at C in the 2014/15 season. Very skilled player.

Wise decision, no brainier actually by Morey.
Rocket fans must be very pleased.

Reading the discussions of this whole saga, it's interesting how little a lot of non-Houston fans think of his talent. Always seemed to me more like being stuck in a "standing in the corner taking 3s" role stifled his production more than anything else.

Nah, I get what you're saying and I agree to a great extent.
I just disagree that Motiejunas' inability to draw interest had much to do with his restricted status considering even when the free agent pool was drying up and other RFAs got offers he still got none. Then when he did get an offer, 5 months into the process, it was essentially a one year "make good" deal from the floundering Nets.

My original point was if BJ Armstrong knows D-Mo's back is totally shot and won't hold up a full season and his sole objective was to get as much upfront money as he could, that would be the only thing that would begin to explain how awfully he has handled this situation.
That's just how bad he has been.

aAll the tantrum for potentially more money with all these terrible clauses? Three option years!

JB Bickerstaff had no clue how to use Dmo. McHale wasn't great but he knew how to get role players to play their games

What a joke of an agent. After this huge L and all the sowing of discord between the Bulls and Rose's camp back in the injury years, no player should be hiring this clown.

D-Mo failed his Rockets physical bump.

Is it confirmed he failed his Houston physical? Man, that would really suck for the poor guy. Because the Nets did pass him through their physical and signed him, yet he can't re-sign with them because of this situation.

Is it possible the Rockets S&T DMo to the Nets or is there no way to get him there anymore?
