The Official Chris 'C-Mac' McCullough Thread

I think everyone took for granted how little experience he had in college due to the injury. 16 games isn't even enough to develop in college. He's still only 21 and hasn't eclipsed that 16 game sample of basketball yet at Syracuse. I wouldn't count his 24 games last season considering he was on a heavy minutes restriction.

The development plan is working very well. He's got a long ways to go but I'm seeing the scoring talent more and more each game.

yep. Let him build confidence and discover what his game is. I think by having him practice with the main team and getting reps in the d league is a great plan by Marks and Kenny to get this guy's NBA legs under him. You can see that the talent is there.

Good stuff. I like the ability to hit inside and outside the arc with the jumper. Once he gets some NBA time he'll have lots of chances to take those shots.

This looks like a totally different player from what we saw in summer league and in the preseason.

The main difference? 100% confidence. The way he puts the ball on the floor and attacks the rim. He needs to maintain that swagger on the NBA level because he has some nice tools on offense. The rebounding always translates regardless, but will he remain confident in the face of better competition? That's what these reps are for. Very pleased with his progress.

He looks like he can swing between both SF and PF. that is a HUGE weapon if this goes right.

Very rough night for Chris overall but still looking extremely polished offensively. The future starting PF in the making.

20 Points, 8 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 4 steals in 37 minutes.

I think the difference is size. D-league kind of like summer league is really small. not just in height but in build. and his biggest issue was he was scared to be physical at the NBA level. he legit would NOT make contact on EVERY screen and always pull up on drives.

Will his aggressiveness/confidence carry over back in the NBA? really hard to say, i certainly hope so, since i dont think bennett is going to stick unless he really becomes reliable from 3

also, the other thing to keep in mind is the D-league games are played at a MUCH faster pace then the NBA... as a comparison 19 of the 22 D-league teams play 100+ possession/48 pace. while there are only 3 NBA teams that play at a 100+/48 pace.... so Dleague numbers are inflated. a 20/10 game in dleague isnt as great as it seems.

He's developing in the tempo we expect him to translate his talent to at the next level. We play at a fast pace. He's learning pro basketball in a league that's a step ahead of NBA teams in pace. The fact he can post an efficient 19/8 in any professional level is a good sign but especially in the same system that we are implementing to the franchise. He didn't have a long college career and regardless of style, the D-League is a step up compared to ACC basketball. His 16 games context in Syracuse isn't any different to 10 games in the NBDL.

Just on offense?

He played pretty physical in the first game this season. Or was it an anomaly?

Perry Jones III. Jones had an ACL tear in college that derailed his career but showed flashes of his talent level with the Thunder. McCullough has a mirroring skill set.

the numbers are inflated. it is nice that he is getting reps at the pace we play at... he will need to adjust to that.... my point was merely that 19/8 looks alot better then it actually is. and stats in dleague in general arent a great bet as the size and D is vastly inferior. i agree it translate more the nCAA as they play NBA rules in deleague and the comp is better. at the same time, alot of dleague teams arent playing to win, but to develop so its a real mixed bag.

its a good sign he is playing well. my thing is him going 20/10 doesnt say much about his ability to get back up or not.
