Yeah man. His game is straight basketball. He just fits. A true natural. If he could just get that shot together. His FG% is fine. His 3P% dips as he starts putting up shots late in blow outs. His FT% is pissing me off actually. Get it together kid. Those points count!

He and Fultz are on their own level in my eyes. True bballers.

The great thing about Jackson is hes a basketball player that is a great athlete. Hes not a great athlete playing basketball. The dude just knows the game, if he had a legit jumper we would be talking about one of the most complete prospects since Lebron.

Just a quick report:

UCF never fell behind during the game against the Maryland East Shore Hawks, which is a weak team this year. Tacko disrupted their game in the paint, because almost every time he was on the floor, they chose not to attack, even actually attacking and then dribbling back to the perimeter (which was hysterical). When they did he got some good blocks, but he doesn't have Hassan's gluey mitts. Tacko swats the ball so sometimes it ends up with a defender and sometimes not.

So, his line was 10 pts, 11 rebounds, 3 assists (all to Matt Williams to hit 3s), and 2 blocks. 4 PF in 23 minutes of play. His usage rate was not very high in this game. Honestly, it wasn't a great test, because, as I mentioned, the Hawks decided to play away from him.

I'll tell you what was impressive, though. I saw many of the same players last year, but Jonnie Dawkins, the new coach, has fostered a feisty spirit on the defense. Four attack players on the perimeter and if they break through they have to lay it up against a 7'6" giant, so mostly they choose the jump shot.

I also have to point out that his assists were just brilliant. He is often double or even triple-teamed and he passes the ball well out to his teammates who are (of course) open. What they are missing - and it's glaringly apparent - is a player to slash into the paint on the offensive side, who can take it to the rim, or pass it to Tacko Fall for an easy dunk. If they had this player or could make him out of the ones they have (Tank Efianayi is closest), this team would go far. As it is, based on Matt WIlliams's excellent 3-point shooting, AJ Davis guard skills, and Tacko, I still see them challenging the AAC championship (vs UConn etc). Right now the RPI is 0.6203, which is 28th. Their only loss was to Villanova.

Anyway, I'll see another game before the conference play starts, hopefully against better opposition. :-)

P.S. Another guy I liked was Chad Brown. He didn't put up great numbers, but he had a clutch block and finished an alley-oop that was a joy to watch. Really, though, UMES was no test.

My rankings so far for the draft picks:

#1: Markelle Fultz (such great handles - ridiculous)
#2: Josh Jackson (phenomenal prospect)
#3: Lonzo Ball (excellent passer, weird shot but it falls from almost everywhere)
#4: Jonathan Isaac (very special player, passes well, shoots well, good dribbling and takes it to the rim)
#5: Dennis Smith (athletic point guard, great basketball IQ, finishes well at the rim and good passer taboot)

Our best fit would be Isaac who can also play PF, but if we are picking first we have to take Fultz and build the team around him. Actually, we can't really go wrong, unless, of course, we trade our pick to bring in someone like Cousins or Wall.

I know a lot of people aren't going to like what I got to say but I think Jackson's a little overrated over here. The guy does a lot of things well but he doesn't seem like much of a shooter to me, but that doesn't mean I don't think he could become a future star I just think they're are other draftees that are more likely to have very successful careers.

So we are currently 1.5 GB last place in the standings and only 1 GB having sole possession of 3rd (according to tankathon.com).
Fivethirtyeight.com has us ranked higher though, with their projections having us on track for a 31-51 finish - giving us 6th outright (http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2017-nba-predictions/).

I can see us dropping a few more games as we remain "injury ravaged", while the Nets will pick up a few more games after AS Break, because teams will more actively tank and they have no need to tank at all.

Yeah, he's pretty special. I think he'd fit in about any situation and thrive.

I've been okay with his jumper so far, but that hitch he has is hurting him at the line. Needs to minimize his movement and his percentage will go up.

If we get lucky and can draft him, that'd be our best building block since Wade. That's a guy you can build around.

I like a lot of these prospects, but I'd feel super confident about our future if we could get a top two pick. I'd be comfortable either way. I like JJ more but that's just personal preference when you watch a guy like Fultz operate.

Thanks for the great synopsis. He's really putting up crazy numbers in fairly limited minutes. He doesn't seem like a total stiff either. I like the potential and I can always appreciate a player with a higher level of intellect.

Jackson has a good BBIQ, passes the ball well, defends on the perimeter, has good handles, and takes the ball to the rim for eye-popping dunks. He is a great prospect even without the dead-eye shot That being said, he plays the same position as Winslow and Hassan doesn't shoot well either, which is why I say that Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, or Lonzo Ball are better for us. Still, if Fultz has already been drafted, I'd draft Jackson before any of the others, because you have to take the player with greater potential rather than best fit.

Depends on how you watch the game I guess, and what you're looking for. I heard some of the same rhetoric on Towns. He just wasn't producing enough for some. Then he gets drafted number one, goes on a tear, and puts on Tim Duncan numbers his first year. Many viewers just want to see a guy go off, every game. Offense all day, every day. I try and watch for how he plays when he doesn't have the ball. Is he aware of where he needs to be on the floor and where his teammate is going to be? How active is he on defense. How does he try and fit in on offense. JJ is mature enough to not have to be a give me the ball and get the hell out of the way type of player. He could if he wanted to. I've seen plenty of video that proves that. Makes me like him all the more.

Fultz just finished up with 21 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

I tried to find a video and got this nonsense in place of what they were advertising:

I only post it, because I hadn't seen the Ducks floor before. That is a wild graphic design they have going on.

In the battle between the Pelicans and Suns, the Pels win it to advance to 8-17, one-half game ahead of us (7-17). We are now tied with the Suns. 7.6% for number 1 pick. 25% for top 3 pick.

76ers winning against Detroit moves them to 6-18, which is one full game behind us. We are almost as good at tanking as Trust The Process!
