He plays 27 minutes a game, shoots 34%, 29% from deep.
CJ Miles is better than him, straight up.
Not sure I agree that C.J. is straight up better. Certainly wasn't in the Toronto series. Solomon does a certain things that this team struggles with like defending and rebounding.
Solomon Hill current rebound rate: 7.4%
CJ Miles current rebound rate: 7.4%
CJ is much better on offense, the same in rebounding, and doesn't suck at defense as much as Solomon sucks at offense.
But the current Pacer team isn't losing because they can't score. Look at last night's game. They let Dallas score 113 points. They are humiliated by Golden with a non existent defensive effort. I agree that Miles is a better offensive player but right now I'd rather have the defender. Admittedly, I've not watched New Orlean this year but I remember what Solo brought to the Toronto series last year and we need a heavy dose of that right now.
And gees, Monta has moved to the land of TJ Ford. How much longer can they keep running him out there.

Re: Pacers / Magic idea
This Pacer team can't score EFFICIENTLY. Our per-possession scoring is down from last year, and CJ improves that. He also brings size and decent defense to the position. I might package him with Monta to get an expiring, not Solo's ridiculous deal.
The Solo we got in that Toronto series is a flash in the pan. He is not an NBA player.

Re: Pacers / Magic idea
I don't think Solo's career results supports the idea that he isn't an NBA player. I wouldn't expect the efficiency he had in the Toronto series but I wouldn't expect his offense to be as bad as it was during the better part of the 2015/2016 season. He clearly had some confidence issues that year. And , why wouldn't he? The team basically told him they didn't believe in him, basically allowed everyone one else to fail miserably before in desperation putting Solo out there. Heck the players went to the coach and told him he had to play this guy. Given a free hand I think Vogel would have gone with him sooner. The better season to assess might be 2014/2015 when he led the Pacers in minutes played. I don't think is offense was "not an NBA player"badthat year.

In 14/15 he averaged 29 min and only 8.9/game. Shot 39.6% from the field and 32.7 from 3. Not exactly lighting it up. He got hot for a series and got paid.... good for him. But, he is playing like Solo this year. 5.6/game in over 27 minutes. Shooting is down etc. He plays well on the defensive end, but is SOOOO limited offensively.

I think the current Pacer team has enough fire power to live with Solo's offense output of 2014/2015. Those shooting percentages are probably on par with Monta Ellis and you would be getting superior defense. Is he overpaid? Yeah I think he is and yes there's three more years. Could we trade for or sign someone better this summer? Maybe. The clock is ticking on the Paul George watch. We don't have much time to improve.

Agree with 99.9% of what you said. I just don't think that an overpaid Solo is something that is going to make PG say oh well I'll stay here. And I don't think it is a piece that really helps us win.

LOL, the greatness of Solomon Hill won't keep PG here? Yeah, I hear you. That said, I think he would help this team win.

Also, not worth it if we're giving up CJ Miles in the process.

I think that depends on how easy you think it will be for the Pacers to add a quality free agent this summer and at what price. My guess, Ellis has no value.
Miles is a free agent at the end of this season right? What will be the going rate for a journeyman wing? And, has he really been that productive? He's hurt a lot and streaky as hell. Aside from the first 20 or so games last season has he really given us that much?

Re: Pacers / Magic idea
Yeah, he really has. He's second on the team this season in points per minute. He's streaky, yes, but in the end his average is good (36.7% from deep for all of last season, 44% from deep this season) and his defense has size and savvy. He's not going to lock down Lebron, but he won't open the floodgates either. He's a solid team defensive asset who holds steady. CJ is a bright spot on our bench and the team as a whole.

He has a player option for next year which one would assume he would opt out and become a free agent.

Haven't caught all the games or studied the stats that closely so I have to give it to you on that point. Games I have seen he really hasn't stood out. What do you think it costs to keep him after he opts out?

Pacers_Freak wrote:Jeff Green cannot currently be traded according to the ESPN Trade Machine. Believe that has to do with him signing this year. I'm not sure on when he can be traded. I am no CBA expert. That being said.... I like this idea. Well thought out.
The trade restriction on Green has expired I think it was Dec 14th/
I'd do that deal Monta for Green and Hezonja in a quick second, but we'd be taking too much salary we'd have to send Stuckey to them as well and they'd likely want draft pics too. The most I'd add would be 2 2nds.

Yeah no way I'd touch Solo on that idiotic contract.

CJ>Solo!!!
If you don't like CJ he'll be gone next year unless we pay him some big money which we won't. Solo's contract is beyond insane.
