Magic Choose Lakeland for D-League Franchise Location

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Wed Dec 14, 2016 1:16 am

The Magic have chosen Lakeland as the location for their D-League Franchise which will begin play next year.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/os-sp-orlando-magic-news-1214-20161213-story.html

It will be nice having a team closer to Orlando so they can more freely send talent down.

Heak, they can even have some games in the afternoon like Brooklyn's D-League team does and then have their assigned players also play in their game that night.

This will help the development of young players like Stephen Zimmerman.

I was really hoping for Kissimmee to get it. Would have thought it would have really helped the team seeing that Kissimmee is 20-30 min away. I would imagine it came down to the facility

I grew up in Kissimmee and absolutely hate it there. The best spot would've been the Civic Center downtown but that place has to be so outdated now. I'd make the drive to Lakeland to catch a D-League game.

Good choice. Can they move them right now so that Mario can get some PT?

I'm pretty sure a new name and logo will come. Something about the name "Bayhawks" just doesnt' scream Orlando area. But that's just me.

The Lakeland Lakers, or the Meth Heads, both works with the environment.

Would it be possible to move the entire roster on off days so they can get more games in?

Seriously though, they should just name the team Orlando magic B
