Which is fine if that player is Noel but Okafor needs those touches be an effective player because even with some improvement he still an offensive center and does not do enough on the defensive end to justify his current role. I've also read that one of the reasons is due to the players being better compared to last season. Well that hasn't stopped Embiid from getting his possessions. His usage is 37.2% and he's playing with better players then Okafor as a starter most nights.

I don't know ultimately what reasons are for this. Is it Okafor not being demonstrative. Is Coach brown wanting to utilize other options. Are the PG afraid of turning the ball over. Regardless unless something changes I just don't see it working.

You really need me to draw you a map as to why Embiid gets more possessions than Okafor?

Embiid's usage rate is way too high anyway. It's probably inflated by some of his dumb turnovers, but either way like Okafor I expect it will go down as he starts to play with better people around him. No one on the Warriors has higher than a 28 usage rate, Lebron is at 30 etc etc etc.

IDK what to tell you man. Okafor has the 2nd highest usage rate on the team among guys that have played more than 100 minutes. It's the 10th highest among centers in the whole NBA. You're just flat out wrong if you think he's getting frozen out or something. He's not getting to shoot the ball every time down the court because that's not how NBA basketball works. Honestly it's like I'm a kindergarten teacher explaining to some parents why little Jimmy has to share his toys... only I'm pretty sure little Jimmy is more on board with this than the parents in this case...

And I'm not sure what you mean by "effective" but he can certainly be a positive player in this league and a good role player for this team if he's efficient in the possessions he gets (Which will still probably always be 20+% btw no one is saying he should become Bruce Bowen or something) and gives a consistent effort on the glass and defense.

Okafor usage is way down and has been a downward trend since the beginning of the season and when he does get the ball it's usually not when he is in a position to score. It isn't even about getting him more looks. It's about making sure the roster makes sense moving forward.

I just don't see why we need to have a offensive center in such a limited role. If this is his role moving forward then we can fill it with more of a traditional backup C. I'd probably still trade Noel considering his ask but I'm starting to not see a future for Okafor here either.

Porzingis is so much better than Okafor. Porzingis is on his way to being a top 10 player and perennial all star and Okafor is still a negative on the team. I hate that we have Okafor instead of porzingis. I look at Okafor with disgust and am in awe of porzingis.

And the team is on pace to win twice as many games, and the offense is several points more efficient when he is on the court compared to last year despite him being super out of shape for a decent chunk of it. Small sample size and all but that's evidence to what I'm seeing that the offense is more efficient when everyone gets involved.

And again, it's not a limited role, he has the 2nd biggest role on the team and a clearly above average role for someone at his position. It's just not 15-20 shots in 27 minutes because that is ridiculous and not based on anything. There are many "offensive minded" players in this league that are better than Okafor that average fewer shots per minute than that.

It's really weird to me that you both want Okafor to play with better teammates but you don't want him to give up any touches to better teammates. That's kind of how it works. As the team gets better he will trade more touches for better touches.

Okafor pretty much has zero trade value. He MIGHT be able to get an Evan Turner type talent who is below average. Someone on his level. But I'm all for trading Okafor over Noel.

ahh i'm sure you can sell the "you may be buying low on a future all star!" to someeeeee gm.

but if noel-embiid work out and start. jah off the bench wouldn't be the worst thing.. he IS still on a rookie deal. can always find a trade later around the draft.

I shall advise you just to support NY so that you can be with your favorate Porzingis forever and we don't have to read your nonsense like this once for a while.

Do you disagree that porzingis is light years better than Okafor?

It doesn't matter what Porzingis is doing or what Noel is doing. Okafor is a useless player on his own. His type is a bad fit for winning basketball, period. If Noel wasn't here, he'd still be useless. If Porzingis was stinking it up in New York, his type would still be useless.

Do you mean the way Embiid is treated and how dominant he is? There's a stark difference between Embiid and Okafor. If we had porzingis he would have played well for us last year. Embiid and porzingis would be the best frontcourt duo ever. They would be blocking shots all day and then Simmons would be the orchestrator. Porzingis would have been loved in Philly. Embiid is loved. We love great players.

Why do you keep talking about big man scoring or small ball? We would still be a big man team without Okafor. How can you not get that? It's impossible for us to be a small ball team with Embiid.

if kristaps played for us last year...yea he would not be successful getting doubled every possession...just because NYK is beating up bums and getting hype does not mean zinger has evolved into an allstar overnight...ppl on this board do not look at the nuances

Yeah. Porzingis is beating up bums. Porzingis is a beast. Ok let me just come out and ask you two questions.
1. Who do you think is better between Okafor and porzingis?

2. Who would you rather have on this team between Okafor and porzingis?

We have Simmons coming back. Him and Embiid make us a big team.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
