Milwaukee/Philadelphia/Denver

Post#1 » by bryanwithawhy » Wed Dec 14, 2016 5:56 am

Which team(s) say no to this deal?

Bucks Incoming

Nerlens Noel 4.4
Robert Covington 1
Jamal Murray 1.7
Sergio Rodriguez (expiring) 8
------
$15.1 Million

Bucks Outgoing

Matthw Dellavedova 9.6
Jabari Parker 5.4
Teletovic 10.5
Plumlee 12.5
---------
$38 Million

Sixers Incoming

Gallo 15.1
Delly 9.6
Teletovic 10.5
-------
35.2 Million

Sixers Outgoing

Noel 4.4
Covington 1
Rodriguez (expiring) 8
Ilyasova (expiring) 8.4
--------------
$21.8 million

Nuggets Incoming

Jabari 5.4
Plumlee 12.5
Ilyasova 8.4
-----------
$26.3 million

Nuggets Outgoing

Gallo 15.1
Murray 1.7
-------
$16.8 million

Sixers trade Noel/Covington for Gallo and $20 million in reasonably bad contracts. Nuggets trade Jamal Murray/Gallo for Jabari Parker and $12.5 million in a bad contract. Bucks trade Parker and $32.6 million in bad contracts for Noel/Covington/Gary Harris.

This is really interesting to me. Not sure which side gets the best of it.

I like Gallo but adding him to a forward core of Ilyasova/Teletovic/Saric seems a bit redundant. And not just because they're all white guys

Philly says no. Why are they adding Gallo?

I kinda like it for the Bucks, but their fans seem to love Jabari so doubt they go for it. The idea of a Middleton/Covington/Giannis/Noel defense is awesome.

This isn't remotely close for Philly.

This. Value wise I think they are getting the short stick here, then add to that that the value they are getting is a bad fit, makes it even worse.

Also, very likely that Gallo will be UFA this offseason.

Going to be hard to touch the Milwaukee Denver portion without getting into a big debate about young prospects, so I will sidestep that and just say that a pending free agent in Gallo isn't where Philly is at for this season.

If we somehow kept Ilyasova and found a way to also add Casspi and Mirotic, we would have a monopoly on international three point shooting forwards.

I would trade Jabari for Murray, Covington and Noel.

Certainly not "hang up the phone"-worthy. If we're trading Jabari, I'd rather not dilute his value by attaching a bad contract. Jabari for Noel/Murray/Covington is reasonable in itself - we get our franchise center (Noel will be expensive but with not having to give Jabari a max it becomes more palatable), a near blue-chip prospect who could potentially be our franchise wing (next to Middleton at the 2/3 - and keep in mind Middleton only has two more years on his deal after this before having a PO, AND he might not be the same player when he returns), and a nice combo forward for bench depth. Having to give up Delly and Telly in order to clear Plumlee I'm a little iffy on, because Delly works extremely well with Giannis and he's on a decent deal, and we wouldn't really have a PG to lock into our core unless we think Brogdon is the guy.

Delly and Telly are bad contracts

Jabari isn't necessary on offense when you have Giannis and his defense is atrocious.

I actually like this for Denver and Milwaukee.

However, the idea is DOA for Philly. The fit and the value is all wrong.

You have to be a pretty damn bad player for a $9m or $10m contract to be "bad" in this cap climate, and Delly and Telly are not pretty damn bad players. The only reason Telly's contract might swing from "average/reasonable" to "not great" is his age and even that's sort of a reach considering he'll probably be the exact same player in 2018-19.

Turner4MVP has a bad opinion on those contracts :D

I think they are good contracts, especially when you factor in Ryan Anderson getting 80M, the Mirza deal is fine by comparison.

Delly might be a bit overpaid, but we had to force a sign and trade, our team loves the player we got and he fits as that Kirk Hinrich type player we need to pair with Giannis. But have a hard time seeing that as a "bad contract"...Plumlee on the other hand...

No, not trading Jabari for this. Never trading a top prospect along with contracts for less return, that is stupid. Not even close.

Signing guys like delly and telly who are barely above replacement level players for $10 million is a bad contract. You are burning 10 million on guys who provide very little incremental benefit (compared to minimum level guys).

What if the Sixers got Malik Beasley and Wilson Chandler? Would they do that deal for Noel/Covington?
