Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
His primary strengths as a prospect are his spot up shooting, length, and playmaking. His ability to get the rim and finish was always a step behind. (Its why he's a late lottery level prospect and not top 5) Fortunately, if his strengths translate to the NBA, the rim stuff gets a lot easier.
The Savior is ready to bless us with a breakout game. I can feel it.

again, this is just based off 2 games, so not much worth in any of it so far.
His defensive IQ has impressed me more than anything else. The shots are starting to fall though.
I can feel the power of The Savior, compelling me to believe in him.

His athleticism and activity on defense are the 2 most surprising things early on. His shot looks pretty good but that was an expected strength, I did not expect him to look as quick/disruptive on defense as he has.
Looking forward to eventually seeing a lineup featuring Lin - LeVert - RHJ - Booker. That will probably be our most athletic defensive unit since the K-Mart teams.

Add iHead, that could be our death defensive lineup.
Actually it matches up well with:
Booker - Draymond
RHJ - KD
LV - Iggy
iHead - Klay
Lin - Curry

It may take a while but the potential is clearly there. Can't wait for him to get some serious minutes. He'll obviously make a bunch of mistakes but many players need to struggle so that they can learn what that they should and shouldn't do.

He's the first rookie we've had in a while where you can just his potential oozing out of his every pore. He has an amazing BBIQ and I'm starting to see what attracted Marks to him. He will take time to develop, but I don't think anyone should sleep on this kid. I'm happy that he's healthy now and we can see him on the floor more and more. I simply love his game and cannot wait to see where it goes from here.

I dont get it, how come he was slated to go late 2nd? Its clear he has talent and it only took him 25-30 games to finally get healthy and get some game time. Was his foot injury THAT bad whre it scared the beejesus out of everyone thinking it'd kill his career?

He'd had a rough go in college. The same injury Brook had, as well as the same re-injury Brook had if I'm not mistaken. He had two promising college seasons cut down by injuries which scared ppl away. Initially, he had been slated to be a lottery pick ever since his sophomore year, but as scouts saw less of him they got scared off and more enamored with the players they had a chance to get more familiar with.

Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
Here are some pre-draft quotes on him.

Chad Ford:
Poor Caris LeVert. The Michigan senior was once projected as a late-lottery to mid-first-round pick. However, injuries his junior and senior year have taken their toll. NBA teams were hoping that LeVert's leg would be healed enough to participate in the combine. Alas, he showed up to interviews in a walking boot and told teams it would be another six weeks before he could start doing light work on the court. That means he won't be able to do draft workouts, nor will he likely be available for summer league. His earliest availability, if everything heals, looks like training camp. That's going to take a pretty big hit to his draft stock."
Pistons.com draft quotes
NUMBER TO NOTE: .416 – that’s LeVert’s 3-point shooting percentage for his final three seasons at Michigan. There aren’t a lot of players with LeVert’s size, ballhandling and perimeter versatility who also are elite 3-point shooters. That’s a major reason why LeVert was considered a potential lottery pick going into his senior season even despite the foot injury that cut short his junior year in Ann Arbor.
MONEY QUOTE: “If [team medical personnel] sign off and don’t think he’s a big risk, he has a lot of talent. He’s got size, can handle the ball, can create a shot for himself. He can become a little better distributing, but he’s got a real good feel for what to do with the ball. Reminds me of Alec Burks or, at times, Jamal Crawford. Those guys, when you get bogged up offensively, you can just give them the ball and they can create something for you.” – Anonymous Eastern Conference executive as told to David Aldridge of NBA.com
Johnathan Tjarks from The Ringer.com
The Medical-Red-Flag Scare: Caris LeVert
If LeVert hadn’t broken his foot twice and endured other leg injuries in college, he would be a top-20 lock. He’s got everything a wing in the modern NBA needs: shooting (a career 40.1 percent shooter from 3), playmaking (4.9 assists per game), scoring (16.5 points per game), rebounding (5.3 boards per game), and the length (6-foot-10 wingspan) to guard multiple positions. He reminds me a lot of Khris Middleton, another long wing with a good IQ who slipped into the second round because of injury concerns. Whether or not LeVert can stay healthy at the next level, I have no idea. There will come a point pretty early in the second round when he becomes worth the gamble, though.

3 surgeries on his foot in 22 months that's no joke.
Draft forecast, tho, is just that. I doubt that Marks is the only GM that liked him in the first round.

Even right before the draft, he was projected to go off the board early or in the middle of the second round where teams are a bit more willing to take a gamble. His potential was never in doubt, but the injuries were a major concern.
