Wright and Reyes don't deserve starting in All-Star Game

Bold indicates who has better stats....

Cabrera: .324, 18HR, 61RBI, 52R
Wright: .292, 16HR, 51RBI, 49R

Hanley: .331, 14HR, 35RBI, 70R
Reyes: .307, 4HR, 35RBI, 62R

It's a joke. It's not Reyes' or Wright's fault.....hopefully they enjoy it. But it's MLB's fault for letting dumb fans choose who are the better players when the numbers are so clear-cut.

no, Hanley's been good. If he didnt get picked by the fans, I dont think he would've been selected to the team. Ramirez, Rentaria, Rollins are having better years than Reyes.

Wow all the SS's last name initial begins with R.

and lmao @ rollins. yeah, he and his .329 OBP are fantastic. his OPS is 20 points higher than reyes', which at this point in the season is almost negligible.

are you f**ing kidding me? get outta here with that.. renteria is the only ss with better numbers (aside from sb) than reyes.. 400obp batting leadoff, fastest man in the game, takes over games even on the bases alone.. hanley, rollins, and hardy are not even close to reyes.. lol at ppl thinking power numbers are everything :banghead:

.. guess he was undeserving i mean he only went 3 for 4 and if the nl won mighta been mvp..

Cabrera desereves to start, Reyes has been the best shortstop in baseball. He has been on a little skid that's why his BA is down but think about when the voting was casted, he was batting over .320

Too bad there are only 5 marlin fans in the world... I'll continue to vote for every met, every year.

With RBIs, you have a point.

But HRs? Come on. Hanley Ramirez is a leadoff hitter too.

Look at Reyes' numbers has a whole and compare it with the other SS. Reyes was batting .361 as late as may 4th. Since then he was gone 58/239, a .243 batting average. His OBP has gone from .439 to .387 in that stretch. Since the 15th of May he has had 9 extra base hits.

Rollins however has been consistant throughout the year, he has batted around late .270s to late .280s. The guy has 22 doubles 10 triples 16 hrs, 53 rbis and 71 runs scored for a leadoff hitter.

Reyes is my favorite player, but I always give credit where credit is due. Reyes was spectacular in the last night, and I'll admit i did vote for him about 100 times. But he has been a dissappointment as of late. With the type of start he had to the season, I was expecting a lot from him.

he can't be amazing all year...everybody goes through slumps...give it a rest... and for god's sake, stop quoting rbi's and runs, as they are almost completely dependent on the other people on the team

arguments can be made from both sides.

but guess what, it doesnt really matter. if you play in a bigger market, you're going to get more votes for certain players.

Allstar "game" is nothing more than an exhibition game.

Glad to see the majority agree that Cabrera should have started. It's obvious that Cabrera is the better player.

Regarding Reyes vs. Hanley....I can't use power numbers? It doesn't matter where they hit...power numbers means runs scored...scoring runs is the bottom line for a lineup. If Reyes gets a double, steals third and then scores from a sacrifice out...that's better than Hanley just hitting a homerun? Small ball and long ball are BOTH important and Hanley does both. You want more specific lead-off stats? Fine...

Hanley: .331Avg, .388OBP, 117Hits, 14HR, 35RBI, 70R, 23Dbls, 4Tripl, 28BB, 27SB
Reyes: .307Avg, .387OBP, 110Hits, 4HR, 35RBI, 62R, 17Dbls, 9Tripl, 47BB, 46SB

Reyes is the better lead-off hitter. Hanley is the better ballplayer. Hanley is just a bigger threat...one night he's batting lead-off..robbing bases and starting big innings....the next night he's batting 3rd....knocking in runs and capping big innings. He has potential to get a 40/40 one year in the near future. :nod:

Shut up already. Jose Reyes is the best SS in the game, no doubt about it. When you consider his defense as well as his impact on the game, it's not even close. This is the same guy that people said wouldnt be able to draw 20 walks in a seaosn, he's on pace for 80.

Don't even try to compare Reyes to Hanley statwise.. Let's face it, no one is more fun to watch in a game than Jose Reyes, and that, imo, is good enough to get him the start.

It didn't hurt that he went 3-4 with a run and a SB either.
