The Sixers medical staff needs to be fired. Two times they allowed a player to play that needed surgery.

So was it torn initially and they were hopeful with some rehab he could play through it and delay surgery? Or did he tear it when he returned?

And somehow the Philly media will blame this on Hinkie.

Sucks! Was really looking forward to seeing what he could do. He was poised to have a career year with us.

Should've gotten surgery from the start. Why didn't they play it slow this one time??

So can we get a medical exception and add a player?

Trade?

Bogs + any of the Nets wings + a low pick for Noel?

My understanding was it was torn initially. They cure for torn is either a surgery or waiting and hoping and seeing how much pain you can put up with. From what I can gather, no surgery isn't without a downside as well, so it isn't just a delay or 'fix' it thing, the surgery has its own tradeoffs. As such, it actually does make sense to have tried to see if it could be rested/played through before abandoning hope and doing the surgery.

That said, my internet medical degree here is only that.

That sucks. This is turning out to be one of Colangelo's worse signings since he got here. Not that I would necessarily do it myself, but hypothetically-speaking, could they amnesty his deal under the new CBA?

No amnesty in the new CBA. So no. They could stretch waive hm, and have his last 2 years count for 3.6m a year for 5 years instead of ~9m a year for 2 years. But thats a bad idea even if you were waiving him.

Guess we are stuck with him then. At least the cap will rise again next season, so his deal will look relatively cheap compared to what other guards with similar skill sets will command then.

I like the idea of the signing, but it hasn't worked out so far.

He very barely matters at all as a signing. We have $60m in cap space for next season, and Bayless makes 1/11th of the cap anyway, which seems just fine for a backup PG. His contract might still look like a lot of money, but as a reminder it's actually just the equivalent of about $5.5m from four-five years ago. Back-up money for a back-up caliber player, who now happens to be injured for 3 months. Don't see that as a big deal.

I thought he was a bad signing at the time the deal was announced, so this definitely doesnt help.

Writing was on the wall for this after he played and went right back out injured.
