For a team that saw this game as a must win, it's embarrassing to show up this way, no sense of urgency in any way and mentally checked out in the first quarter. The fans deserve better than this showing.

How is Kuz in the dog house possible? I don't care if the air is thin, but if you don't care, you don't put effort, it shows. Have respect for people who pay to watch you, because they show up and you don't.

They need a yeller on this team, some guy who the whole team has scary-level respect for who yells in their faces and make them pissed off when they show up like they're still wearing pyjamas.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's our most important player. But what he brings is extremely crucial.

I think all 3 of our "big guns" are equally important.

We scored 114 points tonight.

We are ranked 25th in defense this season, and have been shuttling between 25th and 30th since the beginning. It has been absolutely atrocious. My feeling is that there isn't any emphasis placed on defense because there doesn't seem to be any coherent scheme, any attention paid to scouting reports (why we sending two guys to help on Faried ), and a lack of effort in fighting over screens, closing out on guys, or helping when help is needed. We were average or slightly above-average for half the season with Jose, AA, KP and Melo...and a whole roster that was overturned just like this season. There is NO EXCUSES.

Jeff told his guys in the preseason vs. the Rockets to just go out there and do whatever on defense. Would any self-respecting defensive-minded coach EVER do something like that? What self-respecting coach who cares about defense passes off the job of coaching it to Kurt Rambis, that f*cking perverted motherf*cker that nobody gives a sh*t about other than Phil?

What self-respecting coach doesn't use practice time for defending against PnR?

At this point, Jeff is nothing more than Mike D'Antoni. Heck, even MDA has Houston at 18th in D right now.

Bingo. Ive been saying it all year, forget Melo, forget KP, forget all the crappy ISO we run and whatnot. We STINK defensively. This team has a lazy streak about them on the defense. Lets be honest, a few of the guys on this team don't seem to be in SHAPE to play back to back. Way too many hands trying to make plays instead of moving our feet. Clyde has been saying it for as long as I could remember, we play terrible D and until we play D we have zero shot at winning.

Then why the living f*ck did we give $18M to Joakim Noah for? Cause that's his goddamn f*cking job and he ain't doing sh*t and can barely even play minutes out there.

How is anyone surprised by this? It'd be different if we signed him 2 years ago and he played like this but he's been washed for years now.

Only Melo said it was a must-win. Who would've thunk the team wasnt with him? Just incredibly pathetic team effort.

The difference that Rose makes to our team is huge. People have to realize how much of a winner and competitor he is.

Just wanted to add that I remain of the opinion that we have the personnel to play at least average defense. Our (lack of) defense so far this season is in large part a coaching issue. As in, we didn't work on defense at all during the preseason and first few games of the season. (This is per the players and the coaches--I've posted the quotes before.) As in, Rambis as "defensive coach" is a complete joke (and always was).

Lee and Holiday have been a good defenders throughout their careers. Rose has been trying hard this year. KP was fine last year (when we had him mostly guarding the key/rim). As I've posted as well, Melo does well against most PFs. We have the players to be decent; the ongoing travesty on the court is on the coaches.
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

This trip went south after we had a 115-109 lead with couple minutes left in Phoenix.

The team is just a bad defensive team, no other way to describe it. Most of the time it's hard to see if they actually run any defensive schemes at all.

They are actually quite fortunate to be .500 with such poor efforts. Losers of three straight, two of the last three losses would have been wins if the team cared about anything defensive related.

Denver is an awful team as well, and not buying the altitude bailout. They don't have a winning record at home like the height is an advantage. There is no advantage there to claim for them. Plenty of teams have gone in there building and won games this year alone already.

If Noah's going to earn 18 mill, at the very least, he'd better start teaching this team defense.

We should be 4 and 1 on this trip not 2 and 3. Every single person on this team should be embarrassed. There's no reason for this.

KP took 2 sky hook shots in this game and they both went in. They were Jabbar-like. I hope he starts shooting a lot more of them from close in because they are unstoppable. Much better than those long distance off-balance runners.

This very well may end up being one of Jeff's biggest flaws. He might be good at numbers, analytics, drawing up creative plays, riding hot players and lineups...but I'm not convinced he has the fire in the belly, the ability to motivate or inspire. I'm not convinced he can coach defense.

Derek Fisher: "Why are you here?"

He might be bad at certain coaching skills, but the effort from the team was always there.

On Jeff

Melo on fire and the only play Jeff has been able to muster up is a post up ISO

That was his attempt to get KP the ball versus GSW too.

I'm starting to get really discouraged with his play calling.

On interior D

Why do we have two bigs out on the floor if you're going to keep allowing a layup line? This is pathetic.

On the "altitude" excuse

This is not the biggest loser cast. These are supposed to be world class athletes. This was more about attitude than altitude.
