Is it just me or does Yabu look chunkier than he was pre-draft? Maybe I just forgot how big he was.

He does to me too. Too much dumplings? Weird though. He's treating the rims there like they're nerf hoops. He still seems nimble and light on his feet.

I'd be happy with production like JJ on that contract. Could be a useful roleplayer contract for a title team if he can hit his 3s

Considering where we drafted him and who we took him over, I'd consider that to be a disappointment

Being a role player in your first contract year is not too shabby IMO. Not saying I'm very very happy with the pick but I still see a chance.

pre-draft he looked like he'd been just bodybuilding. Think he's doing more basketball related work and less weight room.

Doing what Jerebko does, should be his floor. Though, Jerebko is more of a 4-5, at 6'10". Whereas, Guerschon Yabusele is more of a 4-3, at 6'8".

Yabs is really nimble too, for his weight, listed at 260 lbs. And I agree, that if he can hit those 3's, he'd be golden.

He looks leaner to me and more explosive compared to how he looked in SL.

Look at that highlight of Yabs and CrowderKeg posted. Look at the 21 seconds into it. That's not playing below the rim. Yabs looks more explosive now. Going into the draft, some people were calling him a more athletic Sully.

I know Chinese stats are junk but wow, he looks much more fluid and explosive than I expected him to look.

Man, Nader is everything we wanted RJ to be.

Heckuva draft this year.

Barkley couldn't have been even 6'6" and he's one of the best PF to ever play the game. His big butt, effort and girth really helped with boxing out and that is more important with rebounding than height. So far I love what I see. We want a stretch 4 who can rebound and he's exactly that. If he backing up Horford (assuming Zizic eventually is the starting center) we could do so much worse. Barkley is the only guy I can remember with Yabusele's size and skill set. Not saying he's going to be Barkley but it's rare to see.

He's a stud. He has great hands, moves, touch and is active on both ends. I wish he was playing with us now.

4 rebounds in 35 minutes sort of stands out the other way though. Look, if Yabu can basically replace KO, warts and all, this was a good pick.

Right. Replacing Olynyk's rotation slot off the bench, with a controllable rookie saves the team a lot of money, and would be a win for the Cs.

That said, I'm not convinced he's nearly as skilled as Olynyk. A lot of these highlights include him overpowering people in ways he won't in the NBA. Especially with his first step. I'll give him one thing over Kelly - he certainly isn't gun shy.

Bingo this is right in line with my fears. We need a guy who is ready willing and able to bang down low, not hang around the 3 point line jacking 3's

I don't mind if Yabusele were to end up an offensive bench big comparable to Olynyk. It's not ideal, sure, but it would be a positive development overall. My bigger concern is that he's not even that.

K.O., despite being positively infuriating, does appear to have a sizable offensive impact. He actually hits shots, he draws defenses out, and he's a great passer for his size.

Yabs isn't shooting 3s at a particularly healthy clip, .347 on the season. He's not going to be drawing defenses out the way Olynyk does unless that improves. He doesn't see the floor to pass like Kelly. He's going to have to contribute more, elsewhere, to have the same total impact that Olynyk does.

I like Yabs. Not sure why people can't be enamored. He looks more athletic than I expected, has 3-point range and a big body.

What else do you want? Sick of skinny guys on our team.

Yabusele isn't going to replace Olynyk's defense, no rookie is.

Edit- to clarify, I actually really like Yabusele and I think he has a shot to be a really solid contributor in the NBA. I just get annoyed when everyone talks about how Player X will replace Olynyk's scoring, ignoring that Olynyk's biggest contribution to the team is his defense. His 3s are nice, but his defense is the hardest thing to replace.
