Lol yes, you would be correct. Just find it a little odd that someone from Maine/NE is a diehard Dallas fan.

Haha. Just saying. It's exactly why/how someone who didn't grow up or live in Dallas can be a Cowboys fan. Sure every team has fans like that but the Cowboys just seen to have tons more.

Nah. Teams like the Steelers, Packers, Raiders & even Hawks fans all travel well. Cowboy fandom is not the center of the football universe, sorry.

According to Forbes

http://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2016/12/19/the-most-popular-nfl-teams-in-states-that-dont-have-one/#476024df2397

Most Popular Teams in Non-NFL States (Per NFL Ticket Exchange Resale Data*):
By Team (Based on Highest Percentage of Ticket Sales in Each State):

1.Denver Broncos: 5 (Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming)
2.Pittsburgh Steelers: 5 (Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, West Virginia)
3.Minnesota Vikings: 3 (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota)
4.Seattle Seahawks: 3 (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon)
5.Dallas Cowboys: 2 (Arkansas, Oklahoma)

Dallas barely made the top 5. Based on this data, most of Maine is Steeler Country lol. So BJJ, you do indeed root for the wrong team.

Forget it Mr. B. They live in their own little idealistic bubble world out their on the west coast. They just want what we already have.

What a cute little map. Now let's apply real numbers to it.

Team Sum of Population
Broncos - 8,452,498
Redskins - 8,260,405
Saints - 7,824,929
Cowboys - 6,809,941
Seahawks - 6,277,333
Panthers - 4,774,839
Vikings - 4,658,686
Kentucky - 4,395,295
Steelers - 4,234,117
Chiefs - 2,893,957
Niners - 1,404,054
Eagles - 925,749

Barely crawled into the Top 5.

Some things from the map:

Why does Nevada like the Steelers? Ignorning the 2 outlier states of Hawaii/Alaska, they are the only team that owns a state that doesnt touch their state of origin (Montana to Denver I guess as well, but you get what I'm saying)
Why does Hawaii like the 9ers? Figured if anything they would be all about the Titans right now bc of Mariota.
Broncos and Vikings seem to benefit from not having much competition around them
Not pictured: Outside of the US. Be willing to be the Raiders get repped hard there

Alaska actually has a huge Hawks following. The games are broadcast up there. Same goes for British Columbia really. Fans come down to the games in large numbers. I see it all the time.

Just curious how they came up with that map. Does it go by merchandise sale or a poll or what?

Oh it's ticket resale value. Meh, hard to tell these types of things by using data
