"Nic Batum over Nick Young, just in the nick of time" - Eric Collins off the cuff.

Didn't watch it yet, gonna watch it on League Pass. Looking at the box scores, Kemba put up a lot, but got a lot of points, rebounds, assists. Batum's box score looks good. I see 11 boards for MKG and Marco played a lot. So it seems MB is the 6th man now. Good to see the win, now I'm going to watch the game.

Kemba and Batum laughing when talking about how Cliff wasn't mad at halftime. "Surprisingly he wasn't mad" - Batum.

In reality he probably should've scored about 35+ tonight with all the free throws that he should've gotten. Kemba was 11-26 (42.3%) which is below his season average, but you won't hear one complaint from me about his offensive showing tonight. I thought he did a terrific job. The defense in the first half was pretty rough though.

Re: GT charlotte vs lakers 12/20 7pm est
Thoughts
- Most importantly, that was a fantastic comeback. The guys once again showed that getting down big is something we can overcome with good effort and intensity on defense. Kemba and Batum were so damn good in that 2nd half.
- Marvin finally appears to be rounding into form. His last 10 games - 48.6% FG, 38.5% 3PT.
- Those 4th Q rebounds by Kemba were HUGE. He's a warrior when he's dialed in.
- Loved seeing Nic hit the game winner. I thought he was fantastic tonight.
- Why does it take getting down 15+ points before this team starts playing with the kind of effort and energy they should show every game? Its been a theme all season. 3rd Q effort was light years better than 1st half. Kemba really looked lethargic and disinterested early in the game. Once he woke up, he was fantastic.
- I don't even know where to begin with the defensive effort we saw from the bench in the 1st half. Sessions, Marco and Roy (by scheme and personnel), appeared to be particularly bad.
- Like everyone, I was definitely freaking out at Rainman for having Roy matched up vs Nance, and Frank matched up vs Deng (I think). Glad he figured out it was time to go small.
- Sessions looked way out of sorts, worse than usual.
- It felt like Marco gave up at least 40 tonight. He's been bad all season, but tonight was brutal. He really had a tough time with the speed of their wings. Watching him trying to guard Lou and Clarkson was just sad. Either falling asleep and leaving their shooters wide open from 3 or getting beat back door. Back Door Beauties - The Marco Thread (or an 80s VHS flick stashed behind the black curtain in the local video store.) Luckily he hit enough 3s to justify his spot in the rotation in the 4th. I know his presence and movement alone creates a lot of gravity on the opposing defense opening a lot of space for others, but there are some times when I feel Cliff allows him too much leeway on defense.
- Kudos to Cliff for riding Kemba and MKG at the start of the 4th. We needed that energy out there, even if MKG looked like a rag doll down in the paint getting the ball throw in his face (fouled?) repeatedly. At the same time, once again, I was depressed watching MKG and thinking how far away he is from my expectations (which were lower than most coming into the year).
- I love it when Stephanie Ready wears the Sager inspired multi-colored plaid dress. Its a good look.
- I'm fairly indifferent on Frank tonight. It was a mixed bag of good low post bully moves vs some of their smaller guys, while also needing to take some responsibility for being in the group that got waxed. He does need some recognition for making a great inbounds pass to Batum to seal the game.
- Not sure what happened to Lamb tonight. Shoulda had some of Marco's minutes in the 1st half, but then again, he didn't really do anything of note in his limited time.
- The Lakers have a really interesting mix of players. I'm not sure where they go from here or what their ceiling is, w/out major changes, but its a fun group to watch. Their a trainwreck defensively though. How much weight can Ingram put on in the next few years? What is his true position and realistic comparison? Is Russell the kind of PG who can play both ends and run a good team or is he more of a Brandon Knight kinda of player? What the hell is Randle? Jack of all Trades, undersized. Can he grow into a poor man's Draymond, w/out the elite defense? Not sure he has that kind of nasty streak in him. How long do you keep guys like Young and Lou around this core? Can they flip Lou for an asset at the deadline?
- Most importantly, that was entertaining.

That game was at different points pathetic, embarrassing, inspiring, tense and absurd. But hey...got that dub!!!

It sucks that I missed another great game.
I have to find a replay of this game so I can watch it during the Christmas weekend.

With Kemba, it's not just about his scoring. It's all about hustle and heart. Sometimes he might the smallest guy on the court but rebound the ball like the tallest of them all.

Says a lot about Coach Cliff and the players responding to him. Sure, the half time speak was positive but he ripped them 38 seconds into the 3rd when he called that time out - and they responded.

I'd like to get tickets near our bench for one game just to hear Clifford tear their heads off when we play like trash.

I think the key to the game was banishing sessions and hibbert from the rotation. Cliffod needs to figure out a way to do that more without overusing kemba, for instance i think lamb can maybe guard second unit pgs while batum handles pg duties. Maybe play graham more as a wing with them? idk but it was clear as day those two being banished helped this team get back.

"Banished" is a melodramatic jazz handsy characterization of an adjustment. Clifford rode his starters and matched a perimeter team......the end.
