He also spit out his mouthguard at the Portland bench, got ejected, then got unejected, but from the sound of things probably should have stayed ejected and cost his team the game.

Craziness.

Cousins with 55 points. Then ruins it by spitting his mouthpiece at the Blazers bench :noway:

If the T was for spitting his mouthguard i dunno what the hell he's complaining about. Seems pretty clear he did.

As long as the trade is a sign and trade since he can walk at the end of 2018 I say do whatever it takes to get him. Star players aren't always available and when they become available do what you have to do. Drafting is great but no guarantees and we have a few extra first rounders we can lose and not lose every first round pick we have for the next 3 years or something

if Kings make the playoffs Cousins will extend.

If not... He will tell Kings to wait until end of next season to sign... Which then means they will trade him before he expires and get little value.

Kings have a really tough decision.

If they are out of the playoff spot a few days before deadline... They SHOULD trade Cousins.

No, they should keep fighting and wait until next trade deadline when Melo and Deron Williams got huge returns on trades. No reason to give up. And with two months left there is plenty of time to get a playoff spot. Plus they already say the want to extend him to a huge offer this summer. It's worth hanging on for a chance at that.

Kings don't make playoffs but keep Boogie after the trade deadline, does he reject a $200m+ extension?

Yep, he could. Sign with LA or Chi or NY/NJ and make up for it in endorsments on the big markets - or sign with a team where taxes are beneficial (Florida, Texas).

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/244552/DeMarcus-Cousins-Intends-To-Sign-$207M-Extension-With-Kings-In-Offseason
DeMarcus Cousins intends to sign a contract extension with the Sacramento Kings worth an estimated $207 million over five years.

Cousins and the Kings have discussed numbers and a deal will be done in the offseason barring a late change in direction by either side.

Under the new CBA, Cousins is in line for the league’s designated player exception, which allows Sacramento to give their franchise cornerstone an additional five-years on top of his current deal, keeping him with the Kings through the 22-23 season.

Cousins can sign for a starting salary up to 35 percent of the salary cap.

Cousins previously signed a four-year max contract in September of 2013 that was set to expire in 2018.

I really just want to see the math on how a player is worth that kind of money to not only pay him but then on top of that the owners are profiting off him too.

Just think, $100m payroll over multiple years. They must be raking in well over $100m in revenue to cover that. Not sure what the profit margin is but I'd imagine it's considerable if they agreed to a significant increase in the salary cap

The salary cap is just a % of the league revenue 57/53 split between players and owners or whatever. Which means if it seems like these players are making bank (especially considering the split of player revenues spreads over a number of players), think of how much extra money the owners started getting with the new tv deal? They are ALL making tons of money. That's why when people say Portland can't afford all these guys or Utah can't re-sign their guys it makes no sense. They are not going to lose money. So unless they seriously value a few extra dollars in their already really rich pockets over winning, they are not going to not keep their own productive players.
