GT: Spurs vs. Rockets

Post#1 » by Nolan » Mon Dec 19, 2016 9:54 pm

When: 6:00 PM MT, Dec 20th 2016
Where: Toyota Center, Houston TX

We've had it fairly easy over the last little bit and this game is going to kick a rather tough road trip for us (Clippers and Blazers after this) so we're going to need a good performance on both ends.

Containing Harden and controlling the pace are going to be the keys to winning this one. We can't let him go ham and we can't let the Rockets leak out in transition and get easy buckets.

Go Spurs!!

Capela is not playing, so I less athletic guy to worry about. Harden is very good setting him up to roll to the basket.

It's pretty good game to take advantage of our size. We need to defend well the 3s though. Rockets are dangerous from deep.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

I honestly think Pop should just sit all five starters, since you guys no longer have the unbeaten road record anyway.

Spoiler:
Jk. Hope for a good game tonight.

What a Game !

Patty Mills should be in the 6MOY contention.

Good win given we were down 13pts with 4:30 to play.

Lots of comments about Rockets simply having an off night and yeah they missed some wide open shots but we also defended them quite well.

Kawhi was real good at times and sloppy at others. Aldridge was pretty good, we are much better when he is playing inside out as I said the other day. Mills is superb. The big story for me was Danny Green. He didn't score a lot but hit some big shots and even if he missed those shots toward the end of the game, the positive he was confident enough to take them in the clutch. One on the fastbreak pullup and the other he didn't have much room or time to get it off. Great to see!

I said in the General board yesterday that no one wants the Rockets first round and they are proving that. Harden is surprisingly a great distributor, he just demands so much attention and then deserves a lot of credit because some of his passes take a lot of skill and vision. And the Rockets run some really good plays. Those baseline drives and swing to the corner three aren't by accident, they actually set some great off the play screens for their corner shooters.

I know imagump mentioned that he thinks Aldridge doesn't know his role and I think while that continues, it is also throwing Kawhi off his game and has done so for over a month. He too often isn't sure when to shoot or pass lately and it's not good for his offense. Career high 7 turnovers and quite a lot lately where he drives into a stacked paint, hesitates and fakes and is putting his teammates in bad positions (at times, because other times he is actually making a smart pass leading to a bucket).

I still think the front office should be exploring LMA trades.

Good analysis. I definitely saw the hesitation from Kawhi last night. I wish in these games we'd punish the other team for having no post defenders. It really would have made the game a whole lot easier. We took far too many midrange shots against a team that had Nene and Ryan Anderson manning the rim.

“Let's say TPE is a big hole, Ryan Anderson is a "power plug Dick" ($21 million a year). All you have to do is use the Dick to plug in. Great trade and great deal! This is called "perfect fit" in the nba.”

Watched the replay of this one last night. Big shot by Mills at the end and a great comeback but it was a sloppy game for both teams.
