Not much in this thread about Ingram. What are people thinking about him?

Playing good solid D out on the perimeter. His jumper just isnt falling. Its going to take him awhile to get used to the NBA. Looks like the same issues he had for about the first half of season with Duke. Just getting used to the speed and physicality and cant get into rhythm because of it. You can see the potential with him though. Just not an impact player right now.

I haven't watched much Philly but I don't know how about the consensus of Saric being second in ROY. His numbers look average? For his age anyway.

At the moment there really is no one that could take the second spot away from him, in a regular year he definitely wouldnt be second.

Just for reference, the last two players who were all-NBA players in their rookie years are David Robinson (1989-90) and Tim Duncan (1997-98). That's how hard it is to come into the NBA and set the league on fire.

I feel guys like Sam Dekker shouldn't be excluded from this thread/rookie status because they played a whole 6 total minutes in 3 games last year due to injury. Not like he could show his stuff in that amount of time. For all intents and purposes he should receive the same treatment as Embiid who literally didn't play at all. MLB has a more accurate classification of rookie status where it depends on how many ab's you've had up until that point. Rookie more or less equates with first real opportunity.

Dekker is having his first real opportunity now, and Rockets' fans are very happy with him. Many are calling for him to start over Ariza now. He's very consistent in bringing one or more positive thing to the table. Good, versatile defender, decent rebounder, can space the floor unlike some expected, and is excellent at cutting then finishing around the rim. Career-high 19 points for him last night to go along with 7 rebounds. If he can stay healthy, I could envision him having a Richard Jefferson type career. Thought that when he was in college, and his #'s are pretty comparable overall right now to RJ's first season, only with superior efficiency/shooting.

And they were 4 year (5 in Robinson's case, right?) seniors. The kids take a minute.

Robinson was actually six (6) years, because of his two-year military commitment. But yup, only two first ballot HOF players were able to do it in the last 28+ years of NBA basketball.

I would take Malcolm Brogdon over him as the second best rookie.

That has a lot to do with how much younger blue chip rookies are. Duncan and Robinson were mature men when they came into the league.

They weren't just mature, they were immediate game changers. Not many players are that in the win-column.

Brandan Ingram probably had his best game as a pro tonight. Hope he can build on it.

#2 Ranked rookie by PER, Hernangomez had a nice game today in 28 minutes (+7). Showing skill in multiple facets of the game. May become our eventual Starting Center down the line.

He had a really good offensive game. But his defense was atrocious.

He's essentially been playing point forward the entire season but yesterday was the first time he exclusively started at PG. If Mozgov had not blown an open dunk, he'd have had a triple double, which would have been amazing for an 18 year old.

Still would have needed another basket. But yeah nice performance, woulda been the youngest triple double in nba history according to announcers

Yeah I'm sure if he knew he needed just a point, he'd have chucked a few shots to get it.

Surprisingly, this was his first double-double of the season.

Willy is a rebounding monster and his post game is already elite, especially for his age. He leads all rookies in FG% (.571) and is 3rd in rebounding despite only getting spot minutes. His passing is also really good, just an all around great offensive player.

His defense definitely needs work, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up as a starting C in this league.

He was old for a rookie. Why would anyone take him with the number 1 pick?
