Draymond Green: We've Finally Adjusted To Not Having Andrew Bogut On Defense

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 21, 2016 9:24 pm

The Golden State Warriors now rank second in the NBA in defensive efficiency after starting the season slowly on that end of the floor.

Draymond Green acknowledged the transition the defense had to make in losing Andrew Bogut, who was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason to create cap space to sign Kevin Durant.

"You lose a guy like Bogut who, you almost can funnel stuff to Bogut," said Green. "You funnel someone to him, you know he's there and he can kind of erase any mistake that someone makes, and then you lose that, you have to get used to not having that there. When you had it there for the last four years, it takes a little while to adjust to that. However, I think we adjusted to it."

While Green has continued to play at a high level on defense, the Warriors have received a better than anticipated contribution on that end of the floor from Durant as well.

It took a lot of leg kicks to adjust
Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.

Stats are misleading. They are a jump shooting team who doesn't play defense.

ok. bogut was smarter than he was athletic at the GSW juncture of his career. a great passer and he read the offense and defense very well. the fact that we are this far into the season and the numbers say something.. yes at this point numbers do mean something..if they didn't would you subtract the number of wins your team has up to today as irrelevant and carry on? of course not. despite what people rattle on about, numbers matter. you can't fake your opponents shooting like crap against u every night. that's not an outlier to hold them down AND outscore them AND win at an almost .800 clip!

stats are kept because hoops are not played in a vacuum, ...there is a reason that a regular joe at the Y cannot and will not score 30 of 2005 KB or '95 jordan...they are better and we know this because of what they DO and DID!

outliers exist but look at the majority of nba champs over the past decade...where do they rank on both sides of the ball???? numbers tell the story. those who say GSW are not a good defensive team ...when did they beat your team last? because, THEY DID. check your numbers against them over the last 3 seasons.
