I'm kinda surprised the Mariners aren't gunning for Griffey. It's obvious how much of a fan favorite he is there, but the Mariners are contending right now, and an outfield of Griffey, Ichiro, and Guillen/Ibanez is killer. The Mariners aren't afraid to throw money around, they could trade Sexson, either Ibanez or Guillen, or Adrian Beltre to lighten the load.

I'm delusional, I know, but I think Seattle should at least be asking.

Griffy batting 5th protecting Fielder would be insane. I would give up quite a bit to land him. This team hasn't won the pennant in 25 years, we have a good window of contending. Getting Griffy puts in serious contention.

I'm not saying he would all I'm saying is he could. His 10-5 rights can block a deal to any team and maybe Milwaukee is one of them.

I have a buddy that is a huge cubbies fan. No team overrates its young players more even though they haven't developed an actually productive regular player in I don't know how long. They have developed some pitching though.

Last year everyone thought Thieriot was the **** because he blew up in 134 ABs even though he was basically terrible in the minors. Matt Murton had a 907 OPS in 140 ABs as a rook; future stud. This year it is Mike Fontenot, who is 27 and spent three years decent though fairly unimpressive years in AAA.

Yep. I've argued with many Cubs fans telling them that "The-Riot" is a 27 year old who had a **** minor league career but now he's all of a sudden going to turn into this great middle infielder.

There are only a couple things wrong with it. Mench? Meh, who cares.

Gwynn, well a lot of people are high on him, but I can't see the Brewers plugging him in in CF anytime soon and he sure as hell can't play a corner position.

Wise? He's a good reliever, but can usually only go one inning and rarely can go more than one day in a row. We have guys in the minors that are pitching extremely well; Parra and Balfour, a lefty specialist in Thatcher, and of course Aquino, who seems to be turning it around after being injured earlier in the year.

If worse came to worse, we could always pick up a bullpen guy at the deadline for some of our minor league guys.

As it stands now, our 8th and 9th inning guys are dominant compared to what most teams have to deal with. CV has proven to be an excellent arm in the pen. Shouse is nothing special, but still gets the job done in his role. Spurling can be a 6th inning guy. Gallardo could easily prove to be very similar to CV in that he can pitch the 6th, 7th, or 8th and pitch multiple innings if needed.

That leaves one spot open for either a AAA guy or a guy we pick up later.

If we added Griffy and moved Hart to CF, that would give us a sick OF offensively and it wouldn't be bad defensively either as Hart seems to handle CF pretty well. Unfortunately, that might mean Jenks plays everyday since we'd no longer have a rightie on the bench to platoon him with.
