Re: George Karl at it again...
What's most pathetic about this is that Melo was a kid when all this was going down. Even if he was a jerk and was difficult to coach.. what is so groundbreaking about this type of stuff? We're talking about young kids who are brand new to being rich and famous. And yes, maybe some of them grew up without a father figure and need great coaching to become great professionals. That's why they're payin you millions to be the coach, Jack!
All I can say is that Melo has grown up quite a bit, even in just the 6 seasons he's been a Knick. He still holds the ball at times, and he's still not a great defender, but Knicks fans know how far Melo has come as a basketball player and as a man, and he doesn't need to be ashamed of where he came from or how he got here. No matter what George Karl or anyone on the internet says about the guy, he's a success story, and Karl knows that.
I'm only 30 years old and I look at kids in their early to mid 20s and see them as babies. I think back to when I was 19-24 and can't imagine how much I would have F'd up had someone given me 40 million dollars and told me I could have practically any girl I wanted. As a fan, I would be annoyed if I learned any player was being a distraction or getting in the way of the team's success, and I've even accused Melo of doing exactly that in the past. But as a middle-aged man, an experienced professional, and a highly-paid head coach in the NBA hired to be a teacher and a manager of egos.. you should know and understand what you're up against going into a job like that, and would only attack a former player - years later after he's turned 32 and has a wife and kids of his own - if you were desparate to sell a book.

He's a crotchety old man.. so was his mentor Dean Smith.. and so was Bobby Knight... and Larry Brown.. are they racists too?
I'm disappointed in you Abe.
Plenty of whites that work with black are racists. Money trumps everything.

I'll be the first to tell you Melo looks like he's a great dad and he seem to be a good husband.. and he's a solid guy. But he's not talking about that Melo. You gotta put into perspective the time period he's talking about. But nobody is going to convince me George Fuqing Karl is a racist. That's just ridiculous. He's an Azzho.. yes. He's bitter and grumpy.. for sure. But he's not a racist.
Jr Smith was a knucklehead to the fullest.. and did a gang of stupid ish when he was younger.
Melo is on video doing stupid stuff.. he came into the garden and did stupid stuff before he was a knick looking like a chump.
And Kenyon? Do I have to go there? You know their reputations.. stop fronting. This is what a crotchety old bitter man was trying to deal with.
And with regards to the book.. he ain't ever working in the NBA and he's already in the hall of fame.. why does he care who he offends especially when those people were a pain in his ass to him during those years?

Money attracts all people Abe. People will look past their own prejudices if they can line their pockets.
Racists are not turning down multi-million dollar salaries because they don't like blacks.

Abe there was a time Blacks weren't allowed to play in the NFL or NBA.
Sports have racial history too and it will never be swept under the rug.
Blacks couldn't go to these big universities. That's why HBCU's are around. You're talking 50 years ago Abe.

Karl is the one running his mouth.
You don't get it.. he coached mostly young black men for over 30 years of his life. His fundamental hate for them because of their skin color was something he could look past in order to keep coaching them? And why didn't anyone ever in those 30 years working with young and old black men ever accuse him of being a racist before?
