A nationwide shortage of avocados has led to higher prices and less fresh eats in California and the Sacramento area.

It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for our Knicks.

What I really don't understand is how this fool expects to move books. How many NBA coaches are there really who have ACTUALLY WON things and are really going to move book units? Obviously Phil is one. I'm sure if Pop wrote a book people would read it. Rivers probably could sell a book or 2. Pat Riley could sell some books. Would anyone really care about Larry Brown and Rick Carlisle writing books? I don't think so. So realistically how is this obscure loser who nobody outside of actual legitimate basketball fans could pick out of a lineup going to move units? It just doesn't make sense. Nobody gives a f*ck about George Karl. Even if you hate Melo or you're curious based on the fact that Melo's name was put out there, are you really going to waste your hard earned money to buy some random zombie klansman looking motherf*cker's book? Whatever advance he got was way the hell too much.

All of this dialogue is just nonsense except for Karl calling Melo out for being a fatherless child ... ? Is that **** forreal? Literally no class and all respect for that ugly old man is gone.

Maybe Melo should write a book saying that Karl would have been a better coach if he didn't get cancer.

Kenyon is now on FS1 [FoxSports1] speaking on the George Karl quotes about him and Carmelo.

First of all, I think Melo handled the controversy extremely well and I am by no means a fan of Melo. But really it's no surprise. Since Melo arrived in New York he's continually grown as adult each year, at least from an "outsiders" perspective.

But I have to agree with ibraheim. As of yet, I haven't heard of a single statement or quote from Karl that suggested he was a racist. Personally speaking, I think Karl's comments should be considered strictly from a basketball perspective. The reality was (and we all witnessed it) Melo, Martin and Smith all had there issues on and off the court. Were the comments in poor taste and timing? Absolutely. Does GK come off as an ****? Definitely. But did Melo play "Dee" in Denver? Nope. Did JR take stupid shots? All the time.

Does saying either Melo or Martin were effected by not having there fathers around make you a racist because its particular prevalent in african american communities? Do we not agree that children (whether white, black, hispanic or asian) growing up in single parent households are more likely to have developmental issues? Now I doubt Karl is qualified to make those assessments and that makes him a **** **** but not a racist is my mind.

I'm ok with George Karl airing out his dirty laundry because players do it ALL the time. I'm also ok withe Kenyon Martin ripping cancer man a new one as well. I also respect Melo's decision to more or less stay out of it.

What I find hypocritical is Frank Isola defending Melo. Come on Franco, don't B.S. the fans. You've been playing both sides of the fence. I can't take that kind of journalism seriously where one minute you are RIPPING the players and organization and then defending them in the next.

You shouldn't be cherry picking if you're a serious journalist.

Just one fan's opinion.

Isola is usually Pro-Melo unless a ripping is necessary. Isola is anti-Managment and I love it honestly because Berman is the complete opposite.

Herring is missed however. We need him back.

That's highly unlikely. I'm sorry I disagree. Why would a guy that's a racist coach a bunch of people of the race he supposedly "hates" to success all while those people are making way more money than him? He could've done a bunch of other things for a living.

Karl is a racist, it's been known for many years, just because someone works with black ball players that doesn't mean he ain't racist. There are billions of people who go to work where they wish they had another job. Karl happens to be a professional coach and so it happens you can make millions by being nba coach. That's a lotta money, right? Can he make millions doing other things? Nope. Karl couldn't magically transform into nhl coach or something.

he's not obvious like sterling, but he does use coded language, making slick comments like this

"Doc does a great job -- and now there's gonna be four or five more anointments of the young Afro-American coach," he told the mag. "Which is fine -- because I think they have been screwed, deep down inside. They have been screwed. But I have a great assistant coach that can't even get an interview. So I get pissed off."

this was done back when he had a beef with doc rivers, and him throwing shots like they gonna hire more black coaches now while his fellow terry stots couldn't get a coaching job back in 2002.

He used to tell how he dislikes the idea of the former players, without any legit coaching experience, getting head coaching jobs straight away. But him using this mostly on rivers, while never ever criticising someone like danny ainge or larry bird who also got head coaching jobs without going through all that assistant coach thing.

He's selective with whom he wants to criticse and I am sure that will be the main thing in his book too.

I'd gladly read a book by Carlsisle. Dude is a hell of a coach. DAL hasn't exactly given him much to succeed with since the 2011 run.

I'm actually really glad Karl showed his true colors in this book

he's always been hateful

for him to, years after the fact, betray confidences and go after player's families like that? wow

to call melo out when he was 19 at the time
to go after Melo, Kenyon and JR for not having fathers
to put all this on them but to take no responsibility for his lack of leadership himself

wow

He's not a racist. George Karl LOVED Chauncey Billups who was the one player in that package, Karl did NOT want to part with.

Karl reminds me A LOT of former NY Ranger coach, Mike Keenan. Keenan is from that school of coaching where the coach has the right to humiliate, verbally abuse, and degrade a player in order to motivate a team.

During the 1994 NHL season, Keenan is popping off and one day, Mark Messier marches right into Keenan's office and closes the door. They have it out like a verbal bareknuckle brawl where Messier stood up to the coach and told Keenan, "You gotta stop."

The NY Rangers went on to win the Stanley Cup Finals.

While Denver didn't win a championship, Chauncey Billups got Melo the closest and was the buffer between the the team and Karl.

You NEED locker room leadership and it is often NOT the highest paid guy on the team.

Karl really has an axe to grind, and says the stupidest of things, but I've never felt he was racist. Overrated coach by far, but not racist.

These comments from Karl aren't from anything current either, so really not sure why anyone would be up and arms over this.
