Why not? He is payed to coach, not to care about roster changes.

Ryan Humphrey, Steven Hunter, Jeryl Sasser, Michael Doleac, Keon Clark just a few of the first round selections.

He signed Grant Hill and let Magette, Harpring, Wallace, and Billups walk.

Do you follow the Magic? He came here to make the playoffs this season. It was clearly stated multiple times. If the Magic are going to tank, he will have to eat those words. Not easy for a coach to do, especially a good one.

He aslo said he will pick up pace , focus on transition and defense. Magic literally suck at all 3 things ( not 100% sure on transition tho, can't find stat right now ).

Probably, but I think that has to do more with his luck and not trades, hires, development ect. If you hang your hat on the draft (which we should be doing based on our market and current roster) you are relying on luck. It didn't work out for him IMO.

totally disagree. some very competent GM's and coaches use the draft regularly to add talent to their team. Spurs are one example. Golden St built most of their team thru the draft. OKC. not every team can do it, but it can be done

I'm not saying it can't be done. I just don't think the drafts have been great other than the obvious top 3 projected players.

The only players outside of our drafting order that we COULD have taken but didn't and have now somewhat panned out

Lavine
Warren
Hood
Nurkic (maybe)

Turner

Giannis (I know, way out of left field, but he has panned out)
CJ McCollum

Fournier (he went just after Nicholson)
Middleton
Crowder
Will Barton

Of course there were a few serviceable players sprinkled throughout a few drafts. I don't think oladipo was a bad pick in 2013 - you could argue between McCollum and Dipo.

What I'm getting at is we need more of a sure thing in the top 3 than trusting Hennigan at picking the leftovers at 8-12, just so we can say we made the playoffs before getting swept.

Yes the Grant Hill that a third of the league wanted to sign and was seen as the second best FA behind Duncan.

Regardless of injuries (i.e. not being able to predict the future), signing the second and third best players in free agency (though Eddie Jones perhaps joint third at the time with McGrady) was no mean feat.

He also won Executive of the Year that season for the numerous transactions he had to put in place to clear cap room to sign two max guys.

This is why we need a need a long losing streak. We gotta break Vogels spirit a bit. As long as he still thinks this team can make a playoff push nothing will change. We gotta break him. Then maybe he will throw Mario in there as our new tank commander and find our way into the top 5. Right now hes playing the guys that gives us the best chance to win.

Stop trolling with all of your former GM, Coaches pics. You, NEM and the rest of his crew constantly bash Henningan, when you should actually blame DeVos and Martins.

This is not an intended Henny bash, but did Martins and Devos draft the current team or sign these free agents?

There is no such thing as a perfect GM. In my personal opinion, SVG is getting fairly close though.

Yet, Pistons are hardly better in W column than us.

It's not in any coaches' dna to tank, imo it's the gm job to tank, if Hennigan trade away all vets, vogel will be forced to play his young players, like what wolves doing with thibs, there is no vets on the wolves, hence why they're losing with their young players playing big minutes.

It's easy to look like a good GM when you fall ass backwards into having Shaq and Penny Hardaway on your team.

That was on Pat Williams' watch.
