Russell was magnificent tonight. I used to be shocked at Russ's 3pt shooting down the stretch of games, but I get it now. He just has that irrational confidence that allows him to make them. Kinda like that line in Better Call Saul where he says something like " I told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it"

I mean how else can you describe him being a lower 30% 3pt shooter, but being unconscious as the game winds down.
Making shots like this ..

Morrow/Abrines may be statistically better shooters, but closing the game I'm going with Russ. Go ahead Russ...Chuck that sucker up

Best part about that is that after Thomas goes down heinsohn doesn't even complain. If a Celtic player goes down and Tommy doesn't even raise his voice then that was the cleanest pick in the history of the NBA.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Now that's what I call a great win. My goodness.
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

Westbrook was awesome late in the game, but the defence also should get a lot of credit, especially Adams and Roberson. They missed big FTs late (I fear teams are going to start using Hack-an-Andre more now, he just can't hit them at all this season), but they were fantastic on D during that crucial period which didn't allow the Celtics to take advantage of the missed FTs. The way they neutralised the Thomas - Horford pick and roll three times in a row was just beautiful.

It was a good win against a tuff Celtics team. It was nice that Westbrook took over and erased the things Isiah Thomas did to get a win in the end.... I am also more impressed with the 2nd unit, and even if its so hard when they struggle its nice to see the energy and passion and then when you hit some shots (like Sabonis last nigth and Abrines nigth before) it gives me hope for future!
Does anyone see a resemblence between Sabonis and Detlef Schrempf?

It's a game that we should have won and we took care of business. Celtics just flew back in from an away game so we had the upper hand from the get go coming off of a day of rest.

One of Westbrook's best games of the season, and he is always iconic. I'm waiting for him to sign that supermax so I can start collecting all kinds of Westbrook memorabilia that I won't have to burn or put in the closet if he leaves like that other guy.

I really like the player Sabonis is becoming. I like guys who come into the league not trying to be superstars, but trying to fill important roles and compliment superstars. Maybe he doesn't have a choice, but he is embracing his role.

If you were to have a scale that included offense on one end and defense on the other, I'm pretty sure Roberson would have a historically big gap. He is one of the very best defensive players in the league, and one of the worst offensive players of all-time. Those 4 FTs while locking down IT was about the best proof of that you could ask for.

I can't wait to get Oladipo and Payne back.

Welcome to the boards! I haven't seen much Schrempf, so I can't really compare there. Glad to have a new voice around!

Missed this one, but glad you guys were rooting them on in my absence. Gotta catch the Ximo Pierto video.

And yeah, I've heard the Schrempf comparison before. I didn't see Schrempf play, but have heard it's close.

Man, going back and watching the game highlights, IT is so unbelievably good at getting his head and shoulders ahead of a defender with a quick change of pace and then keeping them on his trailing hip. Rodney Hood's another guy who uses that to good effect.
