We once had a guy like Smart is close to being. His name was Chauncey Billups and GM/Coach Rick Pitino gave up on him way too fast.

That's why it's a sell-high buy-low. I don't know if Monroe's redeemable, like Evan Turner, in the right system- he can score a little and he rebounds well, but that's all. At worst he's a trade chip next year, or at the draft. But saying Crowder and Bradley are better than Jabari is... you know... true today. Jabari has more offensive talent than those players combined, he's just a qualitatively different player. Crowder is a great role player, like Eric Williams used to be for us - a winner, picks his spots, makes smart plays, hustles, defends, can score a little. Bradley has improved significantly, and he's all-NBA defense and surprisingly good offense. But he's going to get overpaid in a couple of years, so let Milwaukee do it. Easiest guy in our rotation to replace, giving more minutes to Smart and Brown at the 2.

The deal makes no sense on both ends. The Bucks already have Middleton and Giannis so Bradley and Crowder off the bench while they have a massive hole at the 4 spot isn't very appealing to the Bucks. They have a great thing going with Giannis and Jabari right now. They're not going to mess that up.

As for the Celtics, the wing depth plummets with that trade. Sure Jabari does play spot 3, but who really knows if he's the same quality player as a full time 3. Smart coming into the starting lineup removes a playmaker for the bench.

Asking about Jabari is like asking about Wiggins with the Wolves. They have their core duo for the next 6-7 years in Giannis/Parker, just like Minny with Wiggins/Towns. Unless we have a Paul George-like talent to offer in return, Parker isn't going anywhere.

a deal like this would entirely depend on what Ainge thinks of Parker. I'm pretty sure Ainge is very high on Parker. But I also don't think Milwaukee has any plans of moving Parker just like they have zero plans to move Giannis. Those 2 guys are their pillars moving forward.

Hypothetically, if this deal were to go down the Celtics would really struggle spacing the floor and shooting the 3. I guess their lineup would be IT-Smart-Parker-Horford-Monroe with Rozier-Brown-Green-Jonas-KO-Amir off the bench. Boston would need to make a 2nd trade involving one of their bigs for a floor spacing guard/wing.

Overall, I don't do this trade. But then again, is Parker a superstar in the making? If so, then you do it. I'm just not sure if he is a winning superstar type player.

Parker will be a better player than both Crowder and Avery, if he isn't already. Don't want Monroe though.

Parker is a stud. 20-6 on 49-37-74. Thew next step for him is the handle, & from there, playmaking. But he's a future all star in the making. He'll be close this year. No shot Milwaukee does that.

So Giannis is awesome. Parker is great. And they have some good bigs in Monroe, who is playing better of late.

Why do they still suck? They are 14-15.

I am sick of our fans salivating over players on teams that are worse than ours. If Giannis, Parker, Middleton and Monroe are so much more talented, why the heck are we consistently better than them?

Youth is only an excuse for so long. We want studs from Sac-Town, Indiana, Milwaukee etc. and none of them are from winning teams. If they are so good, why won't they win games?

Who is to say they aren't putting up empty stats on bad team. I would take Parker, don't get me wrong, but at the end of the day he is due a big extension and he isn't a good enough player to get us past Toronto if we subtract a Crowder and Bradley from the rotation.

You guys underrate our players.

This. The only way I see Smart leaving is as part of a package for a Stud #1 option. Ainge and Stevens love him too much otherwise and I'm glad that's the case. Trading him for Okafor,Nurkic etc.. I will pass.

You make absolutely no sense here man. You sound kind of foolish. You're completely factoring out coaching, systems, a surrounding cast and players growing and learning how to win in this league. Pierce was a 30 win player during his first 3-4 years in the league. Doesn't mean people couldn't see how special of a player he was. IT did nothing on Sac and Phoenix, comes to Boston and starts winning games. Steph Curry, a 2 time MVP, was a 20 win player til he was what.. 25?

You think Avery would lead teams like Milwaukee to the playoffs? Smh comments like these get me in bad moods.

Oh, my. Chauncey was one of the smartest offensive players in the game, with clutch shooting and a high free throw percentage. Smart is so far from Billups' offensive skill set it's not even funny.

Billups was the lazy dream comparison because of size, build, and lack of lift in those legs. Both are smart defenders as well. But offensive games aren't similar at all.

Funny coming from a guy who compares Jaylen Brown to Green on a daily basis.

If you're following me on a daily basis, you'd know that I said Jaylens long term comparison is Jimmy Butler. But When I watch Jaylen play RIGHT NOW, I see a ton of Jeff Green. But of course, players do develop and improve .. atleast that's what they tell me.

But, because you don't like the player Smart is a finished product at age 22. Gotta love agendas

He's not a finished product. He's going to improve. But given that, his long term comparison is not Billups. If you think so then it seems you don't have a good grasp of Smarts game. It would be like saying Jaylen will develop into Klay. But to each their own man.

We're not 44 games into Smart's career like with Billups. He's played 4300 minutes so far and is a 36% FG shooter and 29% from 3. Nobody is giving up on Smart. He's made nice improvements as a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He's still excellent defensively. But he has shown absolutely no improvement as a shooter.

I see Jeff Green as well as the best comparison.

Return to Boston Celtics
