I dunno who remembers this, but when we first got him RJ actually averaged about 9apg to finish the 14-15 season. Then he came back last year and that number dropped considerably. We need him to be a distributer who can take over in the 4th. Getting everybody else involved with both positively impact everybody else's involvement at both ends, but also open things up for him later.

AKA playing the "right" way in trusting your teammates and always passing out to an open shot if your shot isn't 100% there. It's clear this is less of RJ and friends ISO team, and more of a potential of a pass heavy and transitions but also rely on ISO type team too.

Plus if he does become primarily a distributor, defenses would try to account for that which would open up more shots for him anyways.

Wasn't he a nightly triple double threat and had 2 , 20 assist games?

As far as this game, the Cavs had the same game plan as last years playoffs in that they blitz'd RJ hard on the PnR and for the most part RJ reacted well and made it a point to get in the lane. I also want to point out that he was locked in defensively. IF the RJ can consistnetly play like he did last night. Playoffs are guranteed

Agree on defense the last 2 games he's been trying thats all I ask for. Even on offense he has made an effort to play faster and pass more so he is trying to play better with the team and not act like a jackass. Got to give him props.

I was thinking much the same thing watching the games. Makes me wonder if the big talk wasn't just about shots. It might have included defense. No doubt, RJ is suddenly playing pretty good defense. Let's hope this lasts.

Yes, there's no question he's rounding into shape and is feeling better. I'd have to say we're seeing RJ's best defensive effort of late. Very encouraging! With his size and incredible length he's equipped to do so. It's just a matter of will.
